Help Updating Grandparents 1980s Walls Doors and Trim
Comments (10)Crisp, clean white for trim and doors. I prefer bright white, but many of our designers like Benjamin Moore's White Dove. Will yellow work with her furniture? If so, be careful choosing the color. I would lean toward a very pale, golden yellow. Since you won't know how it's going to look until you get it up, I'd strongly suggest you get some sample cans. Paint a piece of poster board and put it up. Different lighting, times of day can affect the way it looks. It worked with blues, greens and reds)...See MoreHelp with updating house exterior and front door please!!!
Comments (2)Garages shouldn't be focal points - I'd paint them the same color as the house. You want to show off the entrance. Love your front door choices, particularly the first one. I love idea of a light grey for the house, but I wouldn't do white trim, I'd go dark instead as it's more modern....See MoreUpdate log cabin and garage door help.
Comments (0)I’m looking ahead to projects we can get going once we have to go ahead to get back to some sort of life. I have been dying to update our log cabin with fresh paint, new shingles, and a garage door update. We researched having the cabin stripped back to natural wood and restained but that was going to cost over $30k so paint it is. Our place is a main cabin with detached garage with loft apartment connected by a covered dog walk. This pic is from the real estate listing. We have since cleaned out the center island and removed the dead bushes along the front of the main cabin. To be honest I’ve never liked the cabin exterior and am hoping to make the best of bad curb appeal Lol. I think picking a somewhat quirky palette may make it more appealing to me. I found this cabin online that gave me hope. I can’t exactly mimic this as I don’t have the wonderful trim, but I was going to add the green/blue in the way of shutters and planters. I do have exposed log ends that I can paint a red/orange tone. This is a palette that I put together to start. The darkest color is the trim color, the gray is the body. Thoughts? Also, what would you think on the giant garage door? Dark like the trim?...See MoreFront door ‘area’ decor updates... help new friends!
Comments (21)I do LOVE that paint color, but where we are storm doors are essential. They are usually the only thing closed. The large interior doors are usually opened first thing in the morning and left open during the day, Theres a set straight behind them behind the stairwell that open to the back porch that match - though the idea of new storm doors had not occurs to me!! Certainly something to think about. I wonder if I could get away with a different type of storm door with such a traditional style of house... I do need to paint these and the surrounding trim - it’s on the to do list. However, I don’t think I could venture color wise on the trim as there are too many windows and too much trim. However, Now I want to look at storm doors! 😆 here’s the rest of house if it helps - our style is pretty Virginia colonial...See Moremainenell
