I agree. I have never been to India but they must be very common there, (though not native). Im talking about X. violeceum. It seems like every Indian owned smaller scaled motel around here have X. violeceums planted outside. Either they are very common there and lots of people bring them over when they come here or our Indian population is rather small and they have been passed on from one friend to another...lol. Diamond Frost will survive but may need higher light levels - it will get very leggy if the light levels are too low. I lost mine after two years but I have the weedier Euphorbia that often pops up in many pots and the cracks in our flagstone patio. Cutting your plant back by a third to half should not hurt but if you have overhead space (if you use lights) then you don't have to cut back either. The easiest thing to do is treat it as an annual and buy new vigorous plants in the spring. Here is a nice little purple Euphorbia I got as a hitchhiker many years ago from an order to GHW (one of my freebies that actually is still around after many, many years). and my fat fingers to show scale of the leaf

From the pics and reading I have come across concerning fruit growers in other regions, they grow their plants on a trellis or stake. I suppose that is because they tend to branch out like vines, the fruits then grow at an elevated position. Not sure if that helps speed production or not. Around my area, I have noticed a few yards with them in pots or as ground cover. Again, not sure it they are being cut back or not but they don't seem to exceed 2-3ft in length and never produce fruit. I hope to get one soon, I wonder if I could ask someone locally to let me trim a piece? Or should it be grown from seeds?

have a look at this pic : those are bulbils, they are connected to the tuber by stolons and the longer they grow connected to main tuber, the faster and bigger they develop, WHEN they develop into new baby plants (that stay much smaller for sev years). most alo's grow bulbils like that even when they are young plants. during repot the stolons break off easily and then it's good to collect them and try to resprout them in controlled conditions. I prefer to collect them ev 3 yrs approx., as the 1yr ones are too small to bother with. but every year they get bigger. sometimes even very young ones sprout but they grow ultra slow when connected to the mother-tuber. I only grow Alocasia Poly (African mask) indoors due to size limitations. you can have a look at my posts in Aroid forum on propagating it from bulbils. they can be deep or at any height: the only way to know if you have them yet is to unpot and look thru the soil. you can try doing it without disturbing the roots too much.
