Where to Mount TV in Bedroom

We have a dilemma on where we should mount our TV stand and position our dresser. We are not sure if we should position the dresser and TV stand in line with our bed or if it should be centered on our wall (excluding the doorway entrance). Currently we have a queen bed, but we are going to upgrade to a king, so the nightstand will be up against the wall to make room. This will cause our bed to be even further in the corner. What would be best...option 1 or option 2? Thanks for your input!

I'd go with option 2 so you have the best sight lines for your TV, and then you can fill in the additional space with art to balance it out, especially since the door is bumped out from the wall, that space could be considered an "entry" space. How long until you get the King bed and/or how damaging is the mount? You may want to mount it so it's centered on the King bed if it's going to be soon and/or big holes in the walls (though they can be patched).

There is definitely room for the table under my TV.... we have a really super thick pillowtop mattress so positioned the TV at the height that would allow us to view it comfortably. It is centered between the posts on our bed. Here is a picture of the wall...right now we have the satellite box propped on the cardboard box that the TV came in. LOL I liked that chloe table from PB because it is not this big boxy thing and will give me the storage and function that I need without competing with the other large furnishings in the room. I figure I can put baskets on the lower shelf that will help conceal the wires in the background

I would wall mount the TV. Do you need cable box or will you use something like a Roku? I would not get a TV cabinet for the bedroom. If you are using a Roku or Apple TV, they can be mounted on the back of the TV. Will you add a soundbar to the TV? I find that modern TVs have terrible built in speakers.

Lol! We've been married 12 years and we've only added a kid to the mix that also loves football! It's usually my laundry/work out/shopping day but would be nice to catch up on Grey's! The bedroom is not large and we weren't planning on putting another piece of furniture there. We have a king sized bed and a bench at the end of the bed for the dog to jump. But I do see what you are saying about it drawing attention to the corner. We have a new duvet cover yet to be put on. We'll see how that goes.

Kswl that is the perfect size TV for me. That's one huge disagreement between hubs and me. He says tv's of a certain size aren't even worth watching. I had a tiny one when we first met. Never bothered me. Had a small one in the bedroom, good enough for me. Hubs claims he can't see the tv images well when they are small, but I have terrible vision and I can see the tv just fine. I guess I just don't put much stock in the images on the screen and their quality. I prefer real life for that kind of thing . . . Hubs is gone visiting family and I totally don't miss the big screen monster being on all the time. I have been aware that it is intrusive but now more than ever. It was wanting to get away from the monster that led me to the smaller set in the bedroom in the first place. Both hubs and I are boomers, so I know darn well that life went on for our parent's generation and grandparents without these huge TV images and they never complained about not being able to see . . . hear on the other hand . . . but that had a remedy. I can't stand the loud tv noise either . . .

Seriously? In the time it took you to put this post together, you could have tried both options.

Just do one. Don't like it? Move it sideways. You're the only ones who will ever see it.

Thanks for the comments! Adding artwork to the entry space is a good idea. We are getting the King bed this month and we are mounting our TV this weekend. Obviously moving the dresser is easy and not a big deal -- we just want to make sure we are happy with where we mount the TV since that is not an easy fix later on.

Yes exactly -- big holes in the wall especially if you're mounting it. So I'd say to get the measurements for the new bed, and then put the dresser/TV where it will be centered for the new bed. This is going to look fabulous! Can't wait to see it all done!

For optimal, secure and restful sleep the bed should be between the windows so you can see the door beyond your feet. Then wall mount the TV on an articulated arm where the dressing table is. Dressing table moves to where you now have the bed.

Centered with the bed. May we suggest getting a full motion mount that tilts up and down and swivels left and right to give you the most flexibility should you ever find the need to adjust the angle.
