Maple and 'pancake syrup' just seem to be two very different tastes. I prefer pure maple too; had it for the first time as a teenager when the cracker barrel restaurants were new to my area, and I've loved it ever since. It's also more potent, so I use less of it per pancake. At restaurants I'll eat 'pancake syrup' instead of pure maple if that's the only option, and I like ihop syrup better than the grocery store syrups. But I haven't tried many of the brands of pancake syrup, and only buy pure maple. I recently realized that my inlaws prefer eggo pancake syrup, so the next time that they visit I will buy a small container for them. But lately, I've been avoiding syrup altogether (cutting back on sugar, per the 'on a diet' thread), and have developed a taste for pancakes topped with cooked fruit--apples (like a pie filling), berries, or cherries.

Ten bucks for all three! If you love MCM finds, you would be racing over to buy this set, at this price. If you hate MCM stuff, you are cringing and wouldn't give a Nickle for it, I know. These are listing this as a *Marble Footstool*. Gee, I've always hated having a comfortable, padded, upholstered footstool for my feet. LOL. I wonder if I could repurpose it into a plantstand???? Anyway, it is only $10! And looks like real marble. ----------- Only $35 and they say no stains or rips! This is listed as a *Church Pew Style Bench. They think they can get $50 for it. They have two of them for sale and only picture one. Is the other one in even worse condition??? The ad says "These benches are perfect for churches." Hardball, these are feral hogs....or at least were. I don't recommend a hog for a pet....maybe a pot belly pig. These get huge. Pig Sue weighed 510 lb. Pig Newton probably over 600 and there is one here that is probably close to 700 lb. They are very smart though and easy to train. Pig Sue was spayed. Another one, Pig Lee, is probably around 475 lb. She can be moody. She is very tame tho and trusts me with her babies... until I tried to pick one up and then she got mad at me. I never wanted to raise pigs. I was given P Sue when she was a baby. P Lee showed up when she was a baby....escapee from a hog hunter down the road but she was too wild to get spayed. By the time I got her tame, she was too big. But it wasn't a problem because there were no boars around. Two years later, Pig Newt showed up...also from the hog hunter and also a baby. They had used him to bait their dogs and he was totally wild. A year or so later, he bred Pig Lee and that is when my trouble began. I have sold about 50 pigs since then. They breed like rabbits. Two litters a year. Pig Newt is too big now to do the deed. I plan to keep him and Lee and their daughter, Pig Delores, but right now I have 9 I need to sell. Jody wants me to sell Delores and Lee but I won't. Delores is wild but she trusts me. I won't sell her. I have had a couple of pot bellies...both rescues. If I had my druthers, I wouldn't have any pigs....and for sure....never a monkey.

I see Krispie Kreme met their goal of giving away a million donuts yesterday. Me, DH, and my Dad helped! :-) Our backup plan in case KK was too crowded was to buy donuts at a much smaller local donut shop. But it wasn't too bad mid-morning when we got there. We waited in line maybe five minutes. It was fun seeing excited little kids watching the donuts float down the line. Most people bought a drink or extra donuts, but we didn't. My dad was raised during the Great Depression, and "free" will always equal "good value" to him. edited to add: this is the first time I realized that "National Donut Day" is an annual event -- who knew, LOL?
