Final Walk Through - Any Advice?
Comments (1)Just remember that your walkthrough is not an approval of the work, only an opportunity to discuss obvious faults or overlooked items. The contractor is still solely responsible for building according to the drawings and giving you a product suitable for your use. If any changes are discussed they should be performed only after a price and change order have been issued....See MoreFinal walk through...so to speak
Comments (36)Dekeoboe- I couldn't find any either. Maybe e-mail one of the websites, in the UK and ask them? Shades- LOL! I have the same problem...there have been so many variations. I'm glad you like the plan. The right side of the plan (entry, living room, bath, bedroom) are all the same, as is the kitchen...I just put the dining room in front and the laundry/half bath, where the porch is now. I really like the woodstove in the fireplace hearth, so I'm thinking there would be more room for that in the sunroom/porch, than the corner of the dining room. Plus, if I want another fireplace surround, I have to save a few pennies, elsewhere :)...See MoreSeller not allowing final walk-through before closing
Comments (88)Long grass wouldn't worry me, nor a bit of a mess I suppose, but what I can't understand is when what I would consider a part of the sale is taken away. The gazebo for instance, or shrubs. I would feel that what I had seen, was what I was buying, unless the sellers asked me would I mind if they took this prized rose that reminded them of their old dead Aunt Mary. Or, could we take some of the daffodils, would that be all right? And yes, of course it would be. Yet, with some people, it is considered normal to rip out shrubs and young trees to take to their new place, after the sale. So strange. Anyhow, I am glad that you've 'moved on', musicgold, as it's NOT worth the angst to pursue this sort of thing. But please, next time, refuse to settle unless and until they put back what they take....See MoreFinal walk through
Comments (13)The final walk thru is not an opportunity for the buyer to "renegotiate" your deal. It is simply to make sure whatever was supposed to be included in the sale was left (appliances, light fixtures etc). It is also to make sure everything is in working order and in the same condition as when they put the offer in on the house. The carpet is the carpet, and it was the same when they looked at it. It doesnt sound like you are going to have a problem. Occasionally, some buyers feel like the walk thru is another opportunity for a 2nd home inspection. Unless something is broken or drastically changed, you should say "no" to any credits at closing....See Morecpartist
