Just getting started , ideas/suggestions??
Comments (17)bbstx - "Sophisticated furniture juxtaposed with a somewhat rustic envelope." Well stated, may I use that in the future? I think you are right about the white around the FP. What color would you suggest? Something warmer would be better. Keep in mind the color of walls. They are a nice olive green. We were afraid if we used a darker color the room would be too dark. The ceiling is actually pickled so that the knots show. That sounds like Christopher, he is so funny. I love his style. I have been playing with some larger items on the mantle as you suggested. The round medallion can be hung higher on the wall. It does look much nicer. From Bedroom Yes, it will be fun decorating the house. Unfortunatly, after building it we are left with a low decorating budget.....Thank goodness the "bones" are good. Comments (0)I have a potted Chinese bell flower, also called a parlour maple or flowering maple - it's scientific name from what I read on the label is abutilon hybridum. I live in a small apartment with very little natural light, and ever since it got cold and I had to take my tree inside, it's been dropping 3 or 4 leaves daily! I know it needs more light, but my windows just can't provide. Please, a standing lamp that can meet my tree's needs, that a complete beginner can buy ready made or set up very easily, is what I am searching for. If such a thing exists I would be tremendously grateful to anyone who could tell me what it is, and what the best place to buy it for a good price from is as well. RASAP please!...See MoreLiving Room Update
Comments (10)Really like the rug, but the coffe table sems a bit 'Blah". It would be helpful to see more of the room layout, I don't get the white chair in the doorway, is that moving? Couple areas that jump out at me for a possible tweek...Is the tv going to stay, it seems so small for the opening, pehaps if the interior were painted olive it would not stand out so much. The right hand shelves have too many items and they are too smallish, nothing stands out as important. Perhaps an edit is in order. The fireplace stone is really lovely, but the fireplace screen covers it up and doesn't seem like the right style for the stone, too frilly. Is there a need for the screen, eg. it is a wood burning/working FP. Would like to see different furniture layout as just the one chair seems focused on the tv, maybe the sofa could be on an angle? Is # 2 your fabric for window treatment? It looks like a nice starting point! Have fun!...See MoreRustic chic piece needs accessorizing
Comments (3)Cool lamps in a rustic finish would be great. I could see hammered metal looking great (or a hammered finish on the mirror), or wrought iron. I would stay away from galvanized tin as that is so predictable for rustic style! Then between the lamps, a simple stack of books with a cool objet d'art on it and a simple green houseplant or bowl of hydrangeas. I always need more storage for books, so if this was mine I would fit the bottom section with shelves and use it to store books with lighter colour bindings, maybe some gilding. Or a set of deliciously out-of-date encyclopedias. You could put a seagrass or jute basket there, maybe to hold slippers or magazines. It's a really cool piece; do the drawers open?...See More- 4 years ago
