So proud of my DD!
Comments (11)Kudos! I remember when DS #1 was in fifth grade, I told him he had to pick a sport for the year, any sport. He chose baseball (never played it before). Not athletic at all. I warned him he would be playing with kids who had lived and breathed it before they could walk and he was OK with that (i.e. had NO frigging clue what he signed up for). Of course he struggled, but I had warned the league that he was a non-player and they wisely put him with a coach who was more interested in character building than winning. One day the coach was speaking to the team, and some of the boys were goofing off. My son told them off, that they were being disrespectful and should be listening to the coach. They straightened out. He got the Best Sportsman award for that one. I can only hope that incident shows that he has some of Colleen's daughters' stuff when that kind of incident goes down!...See MoreSo proud of my DH
Comments (6)Audrey, this is something I can readily identify with. Briefly: I have to start with 1940. A young man graduated from High School and went straight into the Army, volunteering, not drafted. He and I meet (where and how is another story) and began to correspond. In 1944 we were married. Three months later he is sent overseas. The War ends, he comes home, finds a job. I knew when I married him that his goal was to teach school. Ten years later, by working and going to college, he got his first teaching position. I won't take your time to go into those ten years except to mention that we had two children during that time. It was hard, but we managed and together, we reached that goal. He was a highly respected teacher, believing that he was called to teach. Your DH was obviously also called to his profession. You have every right to be proud, just as I was. We had this little saying that I, like many other wives at that time, had earned our PHT. That was for "Putting Hubby Through." I lost my DH 25 years ago to cancer. He was still teaching up to two weeks prior to his death. Many of your DH's profession did everything possible to help. Two noble professions. Comments (31)Love your granddaughter’s artwork. She must be so proud. And she is very blessed to have a grandma who will frame her picture. When my kids were young we had a galley wall in one of our hallways. It featured our kids art, photos and other artists. They were framed like yours, with neutral mats, we would change out their artwork occasionally. This is still some of my favorite art....See Morerouge21_gw (CDN Z5b/6a)
