I strongly suggest you pick up swatch samples and tape them to your walls in the different light of day. Paint responds to light and each home is different based on natural and artificial lighting. :)

Thanks, but believe me, I have done that and understand the difference in light change, not to mention the light difference based on which ways rooms face--big difference between north, west and south facing walls, not to mention how much light comes in from windows. I am just looking for some general recommendations on what others have found to work with respect to a warm cream paint color.

Having the paint store cut the color may not get you where you want to be, either. You won't get "half as cream," you'll get an entirely new color. Sometimes it's a good color, sometimes it's... not what you wanted. Different pigments have different "tinting strength" and will come forward or recede more than you might expect.

Swatch all three. Powell Buff might still lean too yellow. Rich Cream might go a little peachy. Gentle Cream sits more in between.

PPG Antique White is bomb proof for a warm white. I have used it for years.

Thanks Holly, I will look into the Gentle Cream. The powder room has no windows, so only light comes from the light bulbs. I did change the bulbs from a warm color bulb to a daylight rated bulb which helped to reduce the yellowness. Being a photographer of indoor vignettes, I know too well the importance of using daylight rated bulbs and the impact warm color bulbs have on color. I have more than once looked on the internet for neutral, warm creams, hoping I could find one that will work with all rooms. This is probably too much to hope for!!

Another to check is BM Natural Cream. It’s the one color that I found worked throughout my house, whether in rooms with southern or northern exposures. It never reads yellow but does have the very slightest green undertone at certain times, usually in the southern rooms It reads slightly griege in the northern rooms. In my home the issue was finding a light neutral that didn’t read fleshy.

I had the exact same thing happen to me in my small master bath, barely bigger than a powder room. Philadelphia Cream looks bright yellow in there on all four 9+ ft. walls. I need to repaint it, but I'm lazy. In the rest of my house I have SW Antique White and it's lovely.

Bunny, exactly. Fortunately, when coming into the powder room, straight on it is not quite as yellow. However, turn around and the walls are much more so. In another year when we redo another one of our bathrooms, I will probably have the painter repaint the powder room, won't break that news to my husband until then!!! Anyway, it is tolerable with my new granite vanity top, but really want a wall paint that is more toned down.

AE, PPG is what use to be called Pittsburgh Paint, one in the same. It is sold at Home Depot as well as other paint stores.

Yes, small spaces intensify color. My hall bath is SW sea salt, supposedly a blue/green/grey. In my small, windowless bath it’s mint green. Fortunately I like it.

Are you sure you're looking for cream and not a beige or an off white? To me, cream is, and always has been, yellow based.

Pennydesign, yes, I was looking for a warm cream, but not heavy on the yellow side or deep in color. Per the large painted sample I made up, I thought the Philadelphia Cream would be okay. However, the word warm can mean paint with pink, peachy or taupe undertones, which I did not want. I did not really see an off white when I was searching, but may have to relook at them. Thanks.

Lots of good ones mentioned but I first thought of Saypoint‘s living room she redid in bm cream fleece. There’s a photo of a bathroom in the link too with the same color. Pretty.

This is the Philadelphia cream in my powder room; however, it is a tad more yellow than what the picture reflects. I do love this granite, African Rainbow, as its coloring provides some paint options. There are very minor splashes of very soft creamy yellow in it. If you click on the picture, you will get a better feel for the wall color.

Tip: I ask the paint specialist to add 1 ounce white to the color. It soften the yellow and the color is perfect. It's best described as old fashion vanilla ice cream....just a hint of yellow.

Thanks Josee; however, the granite is not cool in color, not sure how it appears on your screen. It has warm reds and even soft splashes of yellow in the color. As I have learned, small rooms do intensify color and Philadelphia Cream is a fairly yellow paint. It looks good with the cherry cabinet and granite, it is just that I am not one much on yellow, but I have learned to live with it! I just redid another bathroom and found what would have been "my" perfect color for the walls in this powder room which is Sherwin Williams Antique White. Actually, for the just redone bathroom, I had a second tester of SW Antique White made up with double pigment so the shade would be a tad deeper and I just love it. Warmth without distinct "yellow" color. I plan on having my house repainted next year and will probably use the SW Antique White, both in normal tint and some areas in double tint. I feel this color will allow a fair amount of flexibility in decorating colors. Yes, I love Maria Killam and follow her. I even bought the color wheel she offered last year which is very handy in seeing undertones.
