My peony bushes--a year later!

In July of 2018 my son sheared one of my two holly bushes off with his new zero turn mower--leaving just a couple of inches at the base. I posted a picture to this site and was relieved to hear it would probably grow back and to give it some time. It is looking better this year, BUT...

I only covered this same bush (front south side of our house) for the winter to keep it from frost damage; this year the second bush (front north) of our house has been severely damaged. I am assuming because the other bush must have provided it protection from the wind.

My question is "what steps should I take to bring it back to it's healthy state" in previous years?

If you could just find a place to replant them until next spring, they should be fine. If at all possible, move them by clumps without disturbing the roots much so the foliage can grow, you might even have bloom next spring. Not the right time of course, but if you want to save them, you do what you have to, & may very well be surprised at how well they do. I divided mine years ago right after they bloomed & still got some bloom the following year. That was before I knew not to divid in spring & not to plant too deep. They can handle some abuse.

Well after some research it became obvious that the plant is infected with cladosporium. I cut off the red leaves but the stems have a red vein running through them and I'm not sure if I should just leave it or replace the plant. Is it best to cut the plant back to its root or should I just leave it or replace it? Thanks

We paid $750 for the tile backsplash installation four years ago. Your cost will certainly depend on where you live, how much tile, how complex your pattern, etc. As I recall, this job took about a day and a half for one guy. For reference, we live in the SF Bay Area...most contractors are pretty pricey. I feel the same way about the light grout...it really accents that gorgeous tile!

I agree but also think the second one could be a little deeper. Light and warmth such as your area has been having will cause buds to swell. Many peonies buds will swell at this time of the year. Yours do need to be planted deeper. You should have time to dig and replant before the first snow if you hurry.
