help with tv placement in living room
Comments (6)What a lovely room-- I can see why you'd want to spend more time there! Are you open to rearranging furniture? I'd float the sofa in front of window with the chair opposite.. then put the tv (assuming it's a large one) on the wall behind where the sofa is currently. I have my tv over the fireplace now and I hate it.. it's the best place for it but it completely sucks the charm out of the fireplace. And yes--it's too high. If you are thinking a smaller tv.. then you could probably keep your furniture arrangement and look for a small cabinet-- perhaps on rollers-- that would disguise the tv and allow it to be moved as needed. The shelves are a great spot for a smaller tv-- but I fear they are too far from the seating for comfortable viewing....See Moreneed help on tv placement in living room
Comments (10)But to your point grapefruit, if the tv was in the bar area, the seating would be awkward for a family of 5. That’s why I’m looking for a solution that can add more comfortable seating for tv watching and possibly replacing current furniture with a sectional....See MoreHelp with a living room built-in and hiding our TV
Comments (2)How do you feel about barn doors? Totally get it if it's not your thing, but that would be an inexpensive way to do the doors, at least. You'd need your shelves to be 2x the TV cabinet width - or you could do bypass barn doors, but that's trickier. I also wanted to do something similar to hide our TV, and I thought sliding doors might work for us (they cover whatever cabinet they're in front of), but you'd need 2x TV cab width for that for sure. This is what I was thinking for ours (sorry for the link to a blog): https://jenwoodhouse.com/modern-sliding-door-entertainment-center/ Your other option would be to have the cabinet company just do bookshelves on either side and leave the TV space open. The bookshelves would be pretty inexpensive, I think. You'd just need to figure out how to cover the TV space. You could mount shelves above the TV on the wall if you wanted to fill that space. Just spitballing here, but those are some ideas....See MoreLiving Room TV Layout/Set up HELP! (not creative)
Comments (4)Hi All - Apoligies will post more pictures later today. The sofa is temporarily there, its the kitchen so its semi openlan. The x marks the spot where we would like the TV on a swivel bracket. Opposite will be a corner sofa. A guess more pictures will make it easier to understand. The white door leads to a small cloakroom bathroom....See Moreedending17
