an open closet in the bathroom? no. absolutely not. make that a separate area. wall it off from the bathroom and have the entry from the bedroom area. that shower you have there,,,does that say 6'? it's hard to read the diagram. we redid our complete bathroom/bedroom. I put the master across from the bathroom. (also an addition). You better confirm you have enough room for the proper slope for that sewer line. I had to get mine checked out first by my plumber before we even started this fiasco. we had to dig almost 30'. (had to hire someone w/a commercial concrete saw. no way we could have done that ourselves) I can't even tell you how horrible this process is.... the guy who cut this actually does it commercially for a living. took him almost 4 hours. (he didn't even charge us that much, but I would have paid him double if he asked!) We removed all of the chunks ourselves. hope you have strong young men/teenage boys to help! cutting the slab from that wall, all the way down to the opposite walltoilet is just to the right of where he is,,,,shower drain is below, where the L ends.

All of the plans are different- not even the same shape - so it doesn’t seem like you are almost there. Don’t rush it. I like the plan with the bonus room the best (I assume you have several kids to fill all of the bedrooms?). Try getting your two bathrooms by switching the closet and bathroom.

I happen to love my window in my walk in closet but we have windows on 2walls of our master. As for therest you have avery simple ranch and to try to fancy it up will lead to a mess. Just get a different architect who undestands this style of house . As for "custom" IMO all additions are custom so the finishes are IMO what should be thought out and custom . I am not sure the need for the bathroom and closet to be joined for access . I lke to keep the moisture from the bathroom out of the closet .You do not mention budget and IMO losing a bedroom to get better layout is the way to go the kids will be gone and you will have 4 bedrooms where you only need probably 2 Get some pro help even a good ID can get you thinking a bit differently.Additions need real thought to do right and should at the end look like they were part of the original house .

It is very difficult to compartmentalize design for a new-from-scratch floor plan limited to just the Master + Ensuite. As proof, compared to the 1st layout, the 2nd and 3rd layouts have manipulated walls by moving a closet wall out, extending a longer window wall at the entry, and adjusting room sizes. If there is opportunity to push/pull things, then that should be a priority to fix the IMO not optimal layout of this design. The "reading nook" is more of a window seat size with a leftover space feel, there are too many doors, the view into the room from the house is into the nightstand, the closets are separated too far, and one closet would appear to block a typically back yard view. To make pertinent suggestions, the view, sun trajectory, and spaces around the Master should be known, just for starters. Edit: FWIW apparently when you change your username from the initial one that you created an account with, the original one still shows in some places. So on mobile, the thread list for this one showed "homeowner 2023" but "Home Owner" once you enter the thread. Whenever I get emailed notifications from a comment by @PPF or @Charles Ross Homes, their original names show (like "Tim" etc).
