What color options to help this ugly vinyl siding?

We have to replace pretty much the whole railing system on the front porch as well as the stairs due to rot. We very much dislike the color of the vinyl siding, but can not justify the over $36k just to change the color.

So, with the changes needed, would you suggest changing the railing/beam/slats/flooring? I would also love to change the shutters.

I was thinking a Navy Blue would be good, but not sure where else

we should put the blue accents.

remove and replace. We are in Massachusetts, so painting the vinyl I fear would make it a project every few years to repaint. The front of the house actually has the least amount of siding, it is the sides and the back (and the exterior pool house) that cause the most cost for the replacement of the siding.

To do HardyBoard was almost 65k! I nearly fainted when I saw that.

Holy moly! You have a lovely setting. I would try to incorporate the roof color, gray I think. So maybe blue-gray for the shutters. You could still go a navy door. With the windows, I think you need to keep the trim white except maybe on the garage doors which could be all blue gray.

Your house is lovely as are your lawns and grounds. The only change I would recommend is take down all the shutters...they are not the correct size for your windows. Plant some yellow-flowering shrubs, ie forsythia and whatever else your local nursery will suggest and enjoy your home.

Actual wood rot, or just peeling paint? You might want to get an estimate from a painter, it might be cheaper than you think if the areas needing repair are minor. Just a thought.

I like the idea of navy, blue-gray, or deep steel blue shutters and accents.

what did you end up doing for upgrades?! I have a very similar color scheme and am at a loss of what to do with it lol.

Well, we still have the ugly yellow/tan siding.. can't justify the price to replace siding.

We changed the railings to white with black down rods, put up all new white lattice and changed the shutters to a dove grey which is actually a smoky dark blue. It made a big difference. We also stained the floors a very dark deep brown. This is the only picture I have at the moment.. but you can see it a bit
