1980’s table repaint ideas

I have a table and buff from the 80’s that is solid wood and can seat up to 12. I want to update it but I just am not sure what to do with it. Any help would be appreciated.

Depending on what you end up doing to the rest, I might leave the buffet, as is, and paint the table and chairs. Not sure how much diy you'll do, or have it professionally done, but Pinterest has some great ideas for updating the chairs. Adding upholstery to the backs would really change the look. Then paint/finish the table to match.It has a natural division of the top and legs, so you could do the table top differently (maybe a darker stain) than the legs, if you want.

I remember lots of quiche and fondue. Vegetarianism was really in and a lot of restaurants started offering more than just salads if you were one. (I was one at the time.) And there were a lot more restaurants based on only offering healthy food back then, or at least out here in CA. We use to love to go to The Good Earth restaurant. My favorite lunch was a bowl of their gazpacho, whole grain veggie burger and sangria to drink. They are all gone from around here. I miss them. Other foods I remember are wine coolers, sushi, coconut shrimp, buffalo chicken wings, mud pie and frozen yogurt. Clare

I think turquoise would look FABULOUS in your breakfast room. I'd repaint the door, trim, chair rail, etc in that colour instead of the plummy colour. And I'd paint the yellow walls white. I think your dark sideboard, painting and other art, table and floors would all really look fabulous against the white and turquoise. That's maybe more of a Spanish than Mexican look, but I think it would really suit your furnishings and accessories. Just for one more option... ;-)

Maybe the brick looks like two different colors because the garage is in full sunlight and the other end of the house is in shade. As everyone has said, that light blue just doesn't do anything for the house, & all those shutters might be making the front too busy. You might remove the shutters, since you'll have to remove them if you paint them anyway, and paint the blue wall a medium neutral color. Wait a day or so, then take a walk, & come back to see the house from a fresh perspective. If it looks bare, then you can put t the shutters back up LOL.

IMO, the table and buffet look fine as they are. I would re-cover the seats and get a new rug. That rug doesn't go well with anything in the room. Some art on the walls would help, too. I don't think the furniture is the problem. I think it's everything else about the room, and painting the table and chairs won't help. I'm glad you're keeping the cute doggie !
