Sweet Mademoiselle
Comments (0)I got her from a local nursery. I assume it is grafted but I am no expert. She came with a nice bushy shape and several buds. I love the fragrance and so far the color is not too neon to me....See MoreSweet Mademoiselle & Fruity roses
Comments (7)I like fruity scented roses too. You might want to add Jude the Obscure (guava?) and Sharifa Asma (lychee). Abe Darby smells of citrus to me, and Sonia Rykiel has a bit of a raspberry fragrance. I think Scentuous smells like banana runts candy. Lady Hillingdon has a slight apricot fragrance, and I think that Souvenir de St Anne's has a note of pear (though it isn't dominant). OMG I can't wait for them to bloom again!...See MoreFirst blooming of Sweet Mademoiselle rose
Comments (12)Tess P, This rose surprised me , when i got her in early June from Walmart clearance section , she was half dead , dry and crispy. I kept her in the pot for a few weeks as I was trying to find a spot for her , she did not show significant growth . Then I had to be out of town for 10 days before 4th of July weekend. So I planted her in the ground. By the time I came home she really took off , put out so many buds and started blooming. The color is bright and beautiful. Hope yours will do great in your garden! @Joey Wyoming, you are not too far from me, glad to hear your sweet mademoiselle is doing great as well . Today we finally got some precious rain, so I ran out and took a few more photos of this beauty -...See MoreSweet Mademoiselle challenges Leonardo da Vinci, who's the best rose?
Comments (11)Moses, I agree with the posters above in regards to her blooms facing consistently upright, large, and delightfully scented. I actually think she would be a rose that you would love, and work well in your limited space. I have severely neglected her last year and she did develop some black spot for me. However, when I watered her deeply, and applied fertilizer again, she still shot out massive new basal canes almost immediately. I have a somewhat similar climate to yours(Columbus, OH), and haven’t really noticed much balling. She gets sun from 11am onward. First flush is robust, and then she flushed consistently for me through the rest of the season, with some blooms in between the flushes as well. The one aspect that you may not care for is that her outer petals take on a mottled appearance, almost like poorly done tiedye. I pick them off sometimes, when bringing inside, but, eh. They still look off to me on occasion. Good strong stems, no nodding, the strongest scent in my garden. I suggest!...See Moreneedmorerose_va_zone8
