What perennial bloom/growth are you anticipating the most?
Comments (31)KCQ is that yellow flower Heliopsis and is it WS? It's so pretty! I winter-sowed some this past year, they are still just small seedlings because I got them transplanted late, and I'm wondering if they might bloom next year? Flower addict and pit, I'll be honest about the Milkweeds - they do have some issues. They emerge late, and die back relatively early. They frequently get aphids, although they don't cause any serious harm to the plants, they can be unsightly. Most of mine were plagued with some sort of wilt this year, and the bloom tips were killed off. The slugs had a field day on my small plant this year. Perhaps they shouldn't be in a prominent spot in the garden? But you'd be doing the Monarchs a favor to grow it. I really enjoy raising Monarch butterflies, and that is the main reason why I grow so many. The link below is to my album on Raising Monarchs. Comments (137)First I do apologize to anyone that did not get a little gift from me. Not sure where they went but.. Remember the missing box? Well the person who kept that has now contacted me. This person has done many things that were not kosher and some of the people really went into overdrive and tracked her down through her work so now I received the message listed below: "Please let me know how to rectify this with you. I am not trying to make excuses, but can only offer a sincere apology for any problems. If you can let me know what is needed to make the situation right again I will try to promptly address the matter. Thank you for your time, and again I truly apologize." I responded that there was not anything that could be done at this point and I believe she only contacted me because she is in trouble at work. Everyone gets theirs' in the end. diene...See MoreTomatoes are here!
Comments (84)Silvia, I've been off line and two-three nights straight cleaning my computer's hard drive to make it like the day I originally bought it since it was infiltrated about a week or more ago. Your wonderful scenes remind me of how beautiful the world is and how much I'd like to be on one of those beaches! I was joking about the Monte Carlo, for me every trip is a gamble when growing tomatoes. Like children they don't do well without farmcare. I hope you didn't have any losses while you were gallivanting around paradise. I have some Michael Pollan, the tomato variety that is ... maybe you want to trade a few ;-) Thanks goodness I have no weakness for Xocolatl to go with my Tomatl, the chocolate shop looks like a room from the palace at Versailles. Well, since it's my job LOL, I'd say the Coeur de Boeuf de Nice heirloom is simply an heirloom that was developed in Liguria and recently found its way to Nice where it caught on as one farmer's favorite. variety: Canestrino is from the Italian, "Little Basket", right? 15 Euro for a tomato plant sounds awfully expensive even if it is a dwarf bearing maters in those tiny pots. But they look so cute! The pics are so fine ... you've got something for everyone ;-) My favorite is the one from the mountain looking down by the statue. That's where my terrace would be! Great job with customs. It's so good to hear that there is still a little bit of fun left in international travel! wormgirl, I harvested my second Orange Russian two days ago and it was great, though unfortunately very few seeds when it was time to do what we do from a massive great tomato! It was really, really a triple sweetheart of a tomato! 13.1 ounces, which is great for an OR117! And just to show the equivalence, take a look at all the tomatoes I had to harvest today in the sweltering heat to make something similar to yesterday's treat! Lunch (all of them!) Cheers everyone! (and my dreams of a Mediterranean capri blue coast tonight) PC...See MoreTi plant 'Red Sister' has buds!
Comments (6)Time to start checking for buds again. This summer I've acclimated this plant to the most sun since I've had it. And have caused 2 of the tips to bifurcate without a height reduction. I just jammed scissors down into the growth tip & gouged out a chunk. Hopefully that will double the blooms too....See More- 7 years ago
