Progress...Office painted - my desk area set up
Comments (17)WOW someone thought of me and a blog?! I'm quite flattered! It would be lovely to be able to do that but computers and I really do not get along on most levels. At least mine at home. Red - don't you think that massive picture would be just awesome behind my desk!!!!!!!!! It'd be almost like my own window on Paris! Over the wknd I got some more pics hung up in the office and I have to say I am really, really loving it. I know that that having so many pictures covering almost every sq. inch of wall space and horizontal surface is a realtors nightmare and most people would probably say - nope that's too much or what is she thinking, but I just love it! Every picture has a story behind it (even if I don't know who the person is or I haven't been to that place yet). My walls are like a visual library for me and I can't wait until the tiniest detail is done to show you all! This wknd I hope to get my floating shelves up on the wall beside my desk. I'm going to try and find my old mason jars and load them up w/ my pencils and other desk stuff as well as give DS1 a place to keep his collections of rocks and marbles out of reach of the younger ones. Yesterday afternoon I laid down on my kids car map rug in the office while the baby played(I was so tired). I looked around and it was soooooo peaceful and warm and family like....See MoreNeed help with decorating walls of office
Comments (7)That makes sense; you were thinking about the view from the people you were Skyping with. I put up artwork on the wall behind me at work after one of my visitors pointed out that they were looking at a big blank wall. If you Skype a lot and are worried about impressions, if makes sense to put something back there. Could you put a large plant in the corner behind the recliner? (It could interfere with reclining the chair.) Or choose artwork in colors that are flattering to you, not too busy or distracting. Something that makes a good backdrop, not a statement piece. Save the statement pieces for where you can enjoy them....See MoreNew Desk, Need Office Decor
Comments (10)Nice desk and you have a good space! Ergonomically -- Make sure your chair is adjustable in height, for best comfort and functionality. Also, if you get a chair with arms, and it is adjusted to the height for you to work at the desk, will it fit far enough under so that you don't have to lean forward to type, write, etc. With that carpet, you'll want casters on your chair to prevent snagging the carpet. It looks like a Berber weave, which snags easily (I speak from experience, having had that style in my previous home library). For decor -- Do you need any shelf space over the desk? Floating wall shelves can be installed in multiple sizes/arrangement and can be used to mix practical (books) with decorative objects, art or photos. After you decide what to put on the walls, consider a good desk lamp that is both functional and nice. You'll likely want a nice trashcan for paper, and perhaps a small paper shredder. Mine is very small and discreet, as I shred the occasional paper and credit card. Do you need a printer and table for it?...See MoreHelp! How to decorate a home office with light gray-blue walls
Comments (12)Beautiful trim, gorgeous floor the current color will work of course. Going more mid-tone can be pretty amazing too Is the apartment yours, or is it rental? I'm asking because I'd be inclined to go with custom shades as not to obscure that trim..but of course only if the place is mine And I'd pick probably woven grass ones. Shades of natural brown, you know? Or you can go with fabric too. But if the walls stay light-I won't go too dark. Same with curtains. Or. If it's curtains..look at many..you might get inspired by the color you see in ones you like a lot, and "borrow" similar one for your walls. Rug can become an inspiration too. Again, you really don't have to repaint to get the vibe you want....See Moremindshift
