Comments (150)I'm going to give both Erica and Heidi a point. They each had 2 correct words and posted so close together that I doubt they saw the other guess. Great effort, ladies! Adding words: _ i _ _ _ i _ _ (8) Posted on first list _ _ _ _ i _ (6) _ _ _ i _ _ _ (7) _ _ _ i _ _ _ _ _ _ (10) _ _ _ i _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (12) _ _ _ _ i _ _ i _ _ (10) I have a long meeting to attend in the morning so I may not be drawing letters and posting them until after lunch, but I won't forget! Comments (179)Amy, again, thanks for the great fun this month. You did a super job. I went from needing 8 words two days ago to needing only two for Bingo. With all the words that have been posted today, someone has to be lucky and have Bingo. It's been pretty warm here this past week but I am not complaining. It is hard for me to garden in the heat so I wait til after dinner and spend a couple hours a night outside completed needed tasks. Got the tomato and cucumber plants in today. I still need to weed and clean out so many gardens but I am keeping myself from getting overwhelmed by doing one project each night. So far, so good. We could use some rain so the weeding could be a little easier. Margo...See MoreFOTESS MAY SWAP: Double Delight on May 5th
Comments (111)Hey all just checking in. I happened to see info about African violets above. Back when my father was much younger he was quite the horticulturist and loved African violets especially. He still has a magic touch with them. Funny (but true) family story. My aunt (mother's sister and known/admitted black thumb) expressed her absolute glee over how beautiful my father's African violets were. She was explaining that she could never ever keep anything alive but had an especially difficult time with violets. At the next family get-together, my father brought my aunt a plastic potted African violet. He said, "this is one you can never kill; I guarantee it." He thought based on that, that she knew it was artificial. About a year later we were at her house and she had it in the middle of the kitchen table and said, "Look Rick, I have been caring for it for a year and it hasn't even dropped it's petals." When he looked at her quizically, she said "I water it every day and make sure to give it sun but not too much. You were right, I didn't kill it." My entire family erupted into laughter when he explained that it wasn't real. Though crestfallen at the time, it has become quite the family hoo haw....See MoreFOTESS – MAY SWAP: BUTTERFLY, BIRD, BEVERAGE, ETC.
Comments (58)Margo, amazed to see you are in your new house. Yes, sometime we will have to try to meet up with one another. We had the strangest storm last night - hours of thunder and lightning and winds, but not a drop of rain fell. I just knew I would wake up and everything would be well watered if not blown away - no, I was out there with the hose again. Meanwhile I'm trying to deal with the heat (which actually has been a bit better than I expected so far this year) and I have a large tree in front of my house that died suddenly so I'm seeing about getting that taken care of. So odd, in about 3 weeks it went from not looking too good but still had green leaves to dead with not one good leaf on it and we have gotten sufficient rain since Spring. I wonder if it got a disease. Other than the expense, not a big deal. There are lots of trees on my property. I might post the JULY Swap this evening or tomorrow, but of course will leave the sign ups through to after July 1st. I always miss it when we don't have our spot to chat back and forth and having something fun come in the mail is great, too....See Morecanyonwind
