I think I've almost got a color narrowed down. I found a really nice grey that is almost right, so I'm going to try to get a darker sample and see if it will be as fantastic as I'm hoping it will be. However, I've hit another problem. As I look at my fireplace (which I hope to strip back down to its natural brick), I've realized that the proportions are really throwing me off. The mantle seems too small considering the size of the fireplace. Am I crazy in thinking so? Something has to be done with the mantle anyway, since it's not even attached to the fireplace. We can pull it right off, which seems a bit dangerous since there's also an outlet built into it. I like the look of this sort of fireplace, with the pretty white wood against the dark brick. They even have dark walls, which helps me to visualize what mine could look like. But given the shape of mine, I can't really see a way to achieve that look. Any ideas on how I might? The bits of brick that stick out at the top, as well as the fact that my brick doesn't extend to the ceiling, has me thinking I won't be able to just attach boards. Maybe I should just make the mantle a bit thicker? From the floor to the top of the brick is 52 3/4" and the width is 55 1/2", if that helps.

My entire house is painted SW6148 Wool Skein, a "safe" color recommended by our realtor. It is not too dark for us. It does however have a slight green undertone and thus does not coordinate well with a basic beige color. We used SW6150 Universal Khaki as the accent color under the chair rails. My ceilings, plantation blinds and all woodwork are white which helps to brighten the space.

It's hard to know the true colors, looking at them as a company presents them on its website. I can say that I prefer Monorail Silver, from what I see; but only you can see this or that color in your space, with your light. I presume you tried the samples? If yes, which one you love more? If no-try the samples in your bathroom first. That's the surest way to see the representation of color. If you do the crown molding-I'd keep the ceiling the same color as the crown molding. If you weren't-I'd advice on Ice Cube, or some lighter version of your wall color. With standard/lower ceiling, you either want the less contrast with the wall as possible-or visual illusion that the ceiling is higher, by working with trim as if it was continuation of the ceiling. There might be more tricks, so I'm sharing just my limited experience. Now for the only thing that you didn't have to decide by today..orange/paprika won't clash with the blueish-grays..it will complement them. Meaning-both orange and blue gray will look really vivid on each other's background. You'll kinda underscore both these colors. Which might look really beautiful. Small spaces like bathrooms actually can carry a lot of colors-you don't spend there as much time as in bigger rooms, so you don't get tired. You are also actually using quite a restrained palette..I wouldn't worry about introducing orange, at all.

Lovely fabric and curtains : ) . The green in the Sanderson fabric appears to have a yellow undertone, so it's more of a warm green than a cool green. You just have to decide if you want to be cocooned by purple, green, pink, or a shade of brown in the fabric. I would probably choose a warm mossy green. One larger print/picture or mirror rather than two smaller, busy ones. A large print playing off the curtains might be nice -- perhaps a botanical with an amaryllis or a pomegranate, or one with a parrot.
