Non-venting range hood v. venting?
Comments (4)No, there's no saftey risk to not venting to the outside but if you have the option to vent out then that's what you should do. Recirculating hoods are better than nothing but you really want to vent the smoke, grease, heat, steam and odors to the outside and not recirculate them in your kitchen. There are dampers you can put on the vent pipe to prevent cold air from entering your kitchen....See MoreIs the Vent-A-Hood Ductless ARS range hood worth the $$$ ?
Comments (4)I would not use a low end vent with light, personally. In a relatively small place like a NY apartment, I would probably go for the most effective option. However, these seem to be in the $900-1400 range with the typical 30" at the low end of this. How often do you have to replace that pleated filter? I did see a NY apartment that used a ducted hood and had the duct run into the bathroom where it came out right next to the ventilation duct in the bathroom which pulled some of the cooking smells out since these have some "chimney" effect. I don't know how much the bathroom smelled like food because they ate out a lot like many Manhattanites....See MoreOptions for vent liner other than Vent-A-Hood?
Comments (2)I have a Broan vent insert. I purchased my hood unfinished and stained it to match the cabinets. It came with the liner, but I know the liner can be bought separately. My range is a 30 inch but I know the hood I bought comes in various sizes and wood species. I bought one made by Omega National through Kitchensource and most of these come with the liner and recommend a Broan vent. You should get the liner and vent first so the custom hood is made to the right size. http://www.kitchensource.com/omega-national/brand/range-hoods/ http://www.kitchensource.com/omega-national/brand/range-hoods/range-hood-accessories/...See MoreOpening up galley kitchen - range options
