Anyone have the Miele W1 and T1 washer/dryer?

My top loading cabrio just died and yesterday I sprung for the Miele W1 and T1. I was sold on the promise of a long life, and great washing - but am now nervous about the smaller size, and the unknown quality of a heat pump dryer. Love the idea of using less energy, and not having to vent outside - but I'm looking for feedback from any of you who have these machines.

- I know it fits 9kg of laundry, which should be enough, but does the small size of the opening bug anyone?

- Does the heat pump dryer make your laundry room hot (I was told no, but am worried)

- Does it take that much longer to dry your clothes?

- Does bending down so low drive you crazy? (I know I can stack or purchase pedestals, though to be honest the price of the pedestals makes me nauseous :-))

These are both relatively new models in Canada (as far as I can tell). Would welcome anyone's thoughts....-

i do have one and like it. To answer your questions

the washer drum isze is ok for us - you can put alot in there. The dryer cannot be overloaded or the clothes will wrinkle. Also, the clothes will feel slightly "damp" when first pulled out. In a minute or two in the air the mysteriously dry. You should tak ethem out when they are done to minimize wrinkles

the heat pump really doesnt add an heat to the room

drying times are reasonable. i dont think they are actually any longer than others dryers - maybe a few minutes

i am 6'6" and dont mind the reach into the drum

I have the drawers and my laundry room is on the 2nd floor. No issues with vibration (I did have the builder reinforce the joists under the laundry room). In fact after reading the posts on here about vibration I was expecting the house to come down around me....in truth it is so quiet I forget I have the washer on. The dryer is noisier but that is just the placement of the vent and I can only hear it when I am outside the laundry room

I doubt that the Miele residential-grade pedestals were designed to hold both the washer and dryer in a stack. Miele makes heavy duty stands for their commercial grade laundry equipment. You may try contacting them to see if there is anything there suitable with a few modifications (i.e. drill new holes, and add appropriate brackets to fasten the washer feet to the stand, etc.).

If it was making a lot of noise with clothes they probably did not remove the shipping struts. These are long metal rods that are inserted from the back of the washer to prevent the drum from moving around in shipping. If they are not removed the machine can be badly damaged if run while they are inserted. Calibration does NOTHING to even out a loud or bouncing machine. It is simply a hot wash cycle to clear any remaining oils, dirt, grime, old water from test wash, etc. If you paid for Miele to come set the machine up, call them ASAP and have them fix it. If the store that sold you the machines delivered and installed them, then you may have a problem. If the struts are still in and Miele didn't make this mistake the warranty may be void. Read the manual on initial setup and verify the struts were removed. They should have been attached to the outside of the machine on the back side. There are plastic clips to hold them once they are removed from the inside of the washer.

Just to share. Since I purchased a Miele W1 I could no longer use the King size comforter I was using. This is what I purchased at it washes very well on Normal cycle in my W1. There is some room to give in drum. I would advise to only use water plus without max rinse level. I second delray33483. I would have liked the pedestals but opted to stack mine instead. I have the drawer that goes between them when stacked and use it for capsules and laundry bags.
