Please help me update my home exterior on a budget!
Comments (26)Best use of 2K would be replacing those arched windows with rectangular ones. Maybe tall ones, the height to the top of the arch. But would it sketch out to scale first to make sure taller windows 'work'. The front portion around the windows is on the concrete, That trim is probably some kind of synthetic stucco over foam board. Not hard to get rid of. See it being installed at the link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tow5sURpJH0 Later on, replace the front door....See MoreExterior Update on a Budget
Comments (17)I don't mind the shutters, but it might look better without them. Try it and see which you like more. I think your best bet is to focus on the landscape. If you don't pull out the row of yews (?) then make sure that you hand prune them. They need to get shorter by about four inches. Hand prune them so that they stay full, although right after you cut them they will look a bit bare. The goal is to keep them below the windows. A small rhododendron is behind the baby's tears. A fern called Onoclea sensibilis is behind the Hakonechloa 'Allgold'. The far right is Cornus alba 'Elegantissima'....See MoreHelp me update my exterior- budget friendly!
Comments (4)It's better to continue a thread that you started before, rather than start a new one. Is there brick on the sides and back of your house, or only what we see on the front? You never answered that question on the old thread. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5926790/paint-brick-to-match-siding Before you decide on shutters, try to clean the part of the siding where you removed one. If you can't clean it then they must stay. Hard to tell from your picture - is your new garage door wood and won't be painted? You haven't mentioned landscaping which will make the most difference in your house's appearance, and by far the biggest bang for your buck. You have almost no front yard landscaping....See MoreUpdate a 1980's Split Level Home on a very limited budget
Comments (6)Its hard to tell by your pictures, which are a bit blurry and a bit small, but, is that exterior stained? If so, I would get it cleaned and a fresh coat of stain, since I do like the colors on there right now. I am the exception here, I guess, because, I do think those reddish shutters add a lot to the house. The landscaping could use a bit of work, but, all in all, it looks to be a very nice house....See Moreem2tchoco
