I bought 8 bonnie plants from home depot, 3 days back. I don't know how long they have been on the shelves of HD prior to purchase. They seem healthy now (after i removed the grubs and insects that came with the pot from HD). My soil is not yet prepared, and it may take a few days. The plants are: Thai Basil, eggplant, tomato ACE 55, cilantro, green okra, strawberries quinault, big bertha bell sweet pepper, crookneck squash. Currently they range between 3 inches to 6 inches in height (above the soil in pot).

I am wondering

  1. how long i can keep the bonnie plants in their original containers.
  2. How frequently should i water them / fertilize them ?
  3. How tall they have to grow, before they are able to withstand 50 to 55 degree night temerature range. (that is what it is going to be for next 10 days near my home).
  4. How to protect these young plants from insects and grubs (i assume they will show up once i plant them in garden. As of now, the garden is an empty patch with no nearby plants).
