Help: Table Setting With a Throw or “Square”

Got this for dd from pottery barn. Sales person called it a square. Setting the table with it feels a little awkward, though there was a table in the store set with a different one. I’m having difficulty finding inspiration pics. Her table is similar to this, but a dark walnut color. Here is the

throw. Hoping to use for Easter. TIA!!!!

I found two more -- one with three and one with four

I like to do that -- as you can see not every place is on the tablecloth but in this instance the pretty part of the tablecloth would not be seen had I got one to fit and the sides hung down.

You just set the table as normal with some dishes on the "square" and some not. Here are two examples of a square on my breakfast room table -- but it's set for just 2 but you can get the idea.

It is very beautiful

I also have a square(simpler than yours) that I use on diagonal on top of the regular tablecloth. Makes it more layered and patterned, and i love patterned

I had pics somewhere from some holiday, I'm not sure how long will take me to find them. I can try..

I don't think wine red would be a difficult color to find in home decor. That's supposed to be a silk dupioni fabric - Google image result, I've no idea of source... What does your husband have to say about the office? Does he like any of the colors/elements you have in there? If that's the new rug your getting in pic 3, that's the best source for your new colorway. Why not remove the mirror from the mantel since it only reflects the ceiling fan, and try your colorful painting in its place? See how he reacts to that injection of color. To continue in that vein, clear out the cabinet to the right, paint some luan or wallpaper some foam core cut to fit the backs of the shelves. Do you have any of that wallpaper from the office left over? Style the shelves with 1/3 books, 1/3 large decor items and 1/3 open space. Limit photos to a couple and not on the same shelf level. Put foot stands on the the smaller ones and set them on table tops, buffets, dressers or side tables throughout the house. Have you ever considered painting the fireplace satin black? Gray is so past its expiration date, IMO, and is not helping the beige sectional fit in. Every room can use some black.

That’s a good idea about wires but if moved opposite the long wall, the sectional will be too short and the corner would end up in the middle of the space. The speakers would also look odd in the hallway. I also don’t like to block the entrances to the living room. I think we may have to live with the current set up, add a seat along the long wall or remove the corner.

Thanks martinca -- I am sure I have pictures of a luncheon for 4 with a diagonal cloth but I can't find it. The think is that a square cloth gives texture and/or pattern without it being too much because there is a plain color or wood underneath. If I find a picture of that luncheon, I'll post it for it's better than showing a diagonal for two.

Thank you everyone! As soon as I thought about wine glasses on this bumpy embroidery I knew it was a big no. However, it looks gorgeous as a daily table dressing . I’ll try to remember to add a pic later. For Easter, the table was perfect with simple white placemats against the dark wood.

martinca, I think it's hard to miss pictures of my home since I feel it's plastered allover here..)) and should be less of it

but if you did..you didn't loose much if you ask me

(I've a bit a bumpy relationship with my house lately. not decor-related)

I remembered that I might have a picture of this layered thing on my Facebook where I don't go often..several years back, it was..I do remember I mostly tried to capture the cake my daughter made..if I remember which year it was would be easier to dig it up , because this Facebook is a black hole where posts die

I saw you opened another thread..I read albeit very fast..I also use chargers when I don't want to use another table cloth underneath. I have this two by three embroidered..thin rug in the middle, always on my table, and if very casual meal, I just leave as is and give round chargers to everyone
