Story of our home and how we got it...(a Christmas story..)
Comments (22)Caroline, that tissue has crossed the Atlantic and been put to good use here in the west coast of Europe... What a bittersweet story, and what lovely words everyone here has said. I agree, this is a very special place, but I've known that for a long time. I too lost my father 13 years ago very close to Christmas and always remember him when I'm sorting the Christmas tree lights ready to hang on the tree. As everybody knows, there is some mischievous elf that entangles Christmas lights after we store them for the year and then has a lot of fun at our desperation the next year. Sorting the lights used to be one of my Dad's tasks every Christmas and one he performed with the utmost patience. And that's why I have never complained about them ever again. May you live in your lovely blessed home for many years to come and then pass it on to someone who will treasure it as much as you do. Eduarda...See MoreFunny story...I think
Comments (7)I have a friend who has lived in the same house (which they bought from the builder - i.e. they are the first and only owners of the house...) for about 25 years now and there is still absolutely nothing planted in the backyard! She and her husband could never agree on what to plant, so they didn't plant anything... All around them are houses with maturing landscapes and theirs is totally barren. Their neighbours are not amused... Oddly though, she's been the president of the local ratepayers association for years, so I guess they don't dislike her too much :-)...See MoreLawyer Funny Story
Comments (3)I love that! And close to the bone here in my little town. Example: Not a lawyer, but a Doctor. I mentioned to my DD that I had been referred to Dr. X. My DD has worked in various areas of the local medical profession for many years. She gave me a brief review of the current "affairs" that were currently going on in that office. Comments (19)Thanks for the compliments on my bedroom set. And thanks also for the great ideas! I like out of the box, and the slab idea sounds pretty awesome. I looked and prefab pieces are too big but maybe I can get one cut down. Ikea has some not too huge, but nothing too exciting. Still, I'll be there tomorrow so will take a look. And thanks so much for the kind thoughts and words about my handsome Duke. Poor guy got dealt a rough hand in life - I guess that's what happens when you are born on a Friday the 13th! ;o) He has an amazing attitude, spirit, and will to live, however. Sounds like I'm in the company of a lot of fellow dog lovers on this board. And poor Riley, thunderstorms can be so scary! (Sorry about your table, however. Ouch!) Graywings - hats off to you for fostering a dog knowing she had very limited time. I'm not sure my heart could take it....See MoreBluebell66
