Help, Motion sensor light in my office is driving me batty!
Comments (6)They can set these things to different levels of sensitivity and how far out they pick up heat/motion. We are building a house with the motion sensors all over the place. We are having to select how far out in diameter they will pick up motion (so a person walking down the hall doesn't turn on a light in an empty room) and how sensitive - so the cat doesn't turn the dang things on and off. Have maintenance adjust the thing....See Morenew septic systems humming is driving me batty
Comments (10)hello to you all from 2009, it's 2018 now .....hey city transplant(zone5): did you ever get your ATU septic system to quiet down ?? the NuWater system we are installing in our new home build on the very quiet south end of Whidbey Island WA cannot be heard, but our problem is our neighbor's ATU septic system that makes an ungodly loud noise, heard inside our home even if all windows & doors are closed .....luckily, our septic designer & installer says their system's air pump or something else is badly broken and we've talked with said neighbor and he is willing to have it troubleshot & fixed .......See MoreAnimals are driving me batty today
Comments (8)socks I think our coyotes are lazy here. I've seen 1 in daylight near the den and another in daylight about 50 ft from myself and the animals. It just stood there and watched and I yelled at it and waved my arms and finally it ran back a ways and watch from the hill. I kept yelling and it finally left to where I couldn't see it. You know though in three years we've never had a coyote go after any of the animals. Our ducks and chickens free range too. I think they'd have to be pretty darn hungry to do the work of jumping the fences. Luckily we have loads of wildlife on the property so they have plenty to eat. tami_ohio Yes, I've been there many times unfortuately. I've been this way since I was a kid. My middle son came home from school saying he thought he had heat stroke (was likely heat exhaustion, just heached and overheated), he's even thrown up before. Poor kids is just like me. I used it as a learning experience and said, "You know how you are feeling right now, well that's how you feel if you drink too much and get hungover." LOL He said he's never going to drink too much. Jasdip When I closed down my facebook account last year, I had so many people say how much they'd miss my stories. They all just loved laughing at my expense. Of course I was right there laughing with them at the many, many mistakes and mishaps we've endured on our city to country journey....See MoreOdor driving me crazy! Can you solve the mystery?
Comments (14)You say that you sense the smell mostly in the air. Is it possible that this particular area is just an area where other household odors accumulate? We have two such areas in our house, where odors will collect and linger- one is in a central area in the entryway, the other is in a bathroom that is in a back corner. One of those I can see having limited air circulation, but the first seems like odors would move through quickly, yet they don't and odors from other parts of the house will essentially leave those parts of the house and collect in these. I was just wondering if it was possible that the smell is coming from elsewhere (say a nearby bathroom or laundry room?) and is hanging there? What happens if you put a small fan in that area later in the day? Would the smell still be in that area with the fan on or off? The other thing that comes to my mind is bed linens- particularly any down or feather product. I've had issues on occasion with these getting funny/smelly odors that come and go, and it's very hard to pinpoint the issue, even when smelling the comforter or pillow directly. It's only by removing the item from the area/house for a little while, that we were able to pinpoint exactly what it was. I've noticed this problem more when the humidity is higher and it was worse later in the day when temperatures in the house had increased, and like I said, it smells fine some of the time and then other times there is a weird funk. I hope you can find the source. It sounds very annoying....See More- 5 years ago
