Thanks for the responses. I agree, kathyga, that just a valance would not be right for these windows. I really think side panels would look great, but also need something for light control. So do I really need to worry that much about hiding the pleated shades? If I choose a color in the tan family, maybe they won't be too noticeable when they're raised all the way up. I did consider woven shades, annie1971, but don't want the cords hanging down when the shades are at the top. I also think with the size of the windows, the bulk at the top would be too much. Pleated shades or cellular shades would compact to just a few inches. So it all boils down to this. I want cellular shades because I can get them cordless and I think side panels would look nice, but can I use the two of them together without anything across the top????? Thanks!!!!

Absolutely amazing home...we did a few styles like this. You need inside mount installation for sure that preserves the style and design of the windows. Pleated or honeycomb shades will work great for your place - the light filtering fabrics soften the light and create a homey atmosphere. Have you thought about bottom up top down pleated blinds or honeycomb shades? Minimal in design and able to install as inside mount to a shallow depth of only 1/2 inch. Here are some client pictures and how they solved their bay window challenge.

Hey There: We suggest that you go with blinds or shades for each window individually. A window treatment must be functional at first and looking at your pictures, the new tenant needs privacy and light management. I assume that the bottom window blinds will never be used in the first place but they will allow for light coming in and for privacy.
