Landscaping ideas needed
Hi - we pulled out the landscaping that was in front of our one-story ranch home (overgrown/outdated large bushes) and are looking for ideas on what to plant in this specific area of the house. There is a boxwood hedge on the part of the house that is not visible to the right. The rest is really a blank canvas so no concerns over tying it in to anything else. Slightly to the left of this area is a large white hydrangea. We are painting the foundation but I am not a fan of the striped look we have going on (siding/brick/foundation) so I'd like it to be somewhat covered with evergreen plantings. Located in the suburbs of NYC (Zone 6 I think) and deer eating our plants is a concern. Overall want to keep it to a green/white color scheme and add annuals throughout the year. Also planning to add shutters and a white window box with some colorful flowers. Ideas appreciated!

Comments (3)I would not accept that bank as is. It will be an ongoing problem the way it is so steeply graded. With runoff, erosion and flooding. Have all drainage solutions in place before laying sod. Mark off your deep foundation beds now and cover in mulch, pine straw would be the easiest. Consider each plant for its mature size so that you do not plant something that will require frequent pruning to maintain its size and place in your space....See More

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoI can’t see where a window box would go and IMO your siding needs to be a darker color to blend better with the brick As for plantings these are good ideas of foundtaion plantings . It would be nice to see pictures of the house to really give advice.
