re: anyone know what kind of chairs these are?
Comments (11)if you want to re-stain, all of the old finish needs to be stripped. don't just wipe on a gel stain over whats there, it will look horrid. you can try sanding the flat parts until you reach bare wood, but those turned front supports are going to be difficult. Even if you paint, it will all need a very good sanding until it's smooth. i think if you kept the leather, gave it a good cleaning and conditioning, and painted the wood a satin black, they would look great....See MoreWhat kind of chair mat for new LVP? Or do I really need one?
Comments (9)The difference between the old vinyl you had and the new LVT is the LVT is thicker with a core. So, the wheels can make impressions or indentations. You may use a hard surface mat. Here are a couple of examples. You may not have any issues if you don't use a mat, but why take the chance? Protect that flooring investment! (note: the flooring in the photos is not LVT) LVT...See MoreWhat kind of chairs for this dining table?
Comments (12)I'd use something like Century's William and Mary Chair, done in a plain and simple linen and with the brass nails. (these also happen to be on a closeout so the price would be excellent on them - dealer prices will be less than buying from Century direct off their website). You want chairs that have presence with a table like that, so back height and bold turnings on the chairs as well. Matching the woods is neither necessary or particularly desirable. The more contrast in the chair legs vs the table legs, the more dramatic the tabie's design features will show. https://www.centuryfurniture.com/product-detail.aspx?sku=MN5375S&section=...See MoreWhat kind of chair is this?
Comments (38)Yup! The legs are solid with the front legs going all the way up to the first sharp angle. Then a solid piece from the leg to the next pointy bit. (What's an arm here?) The back is plywood with a continuous sheet of veneer all the way to the front legs, inside and outside. The top has veneer banding to hide the plywood edge. This is the one that needs repair: Underside back (no banding): The back legs actually do have wormy bits (real or fake I can't tell but I like the term better than "distressed".) I doubt this is wormy actual chestnut due to the presumed era of its creation but I can totally get onboard with it being faux wormy chestnut. It makes sense. I can't imagine the lady who purchased these would ever have anything remotely distressed in her home....See MoreJamie Ludwig
