have you secretly have taken care of someones plant?
Comments (10)My Next door neighbor had some palms put in when she saw mine in my backyard. Sorry to say, that she thought that once they were put in that they would be perfect and she wouldn's have to do anything to them. She asked me several times what to do and i would give her a good long explanation on how to care for these palms and then she once asked if i would care for them.. well, i kindly said that i already had a job doing other things and when you buy these types of palms, you have to take care of them until they bcome established.. OK.,, she didnt water them. I watched as they slowly declined and i would go over to her house when she was gone to water them I would swear they would smile at me. They likes this silent treatment and the homeowner thinks they just magically grew into beautiful palmstrees.. I love them so much, i couldnt help to see them die because of her lazy attitude and to think that she could just ask anyone for help. So, yes.. i secertly watered them until they could hold their own and the are looking great. I FEEL SO GOOD WHEN I DRIVE BY AND KNOW THAT IT WAS I THAT SAVED THOSE BEAUTIFUL 20 FOOTER Palms.. She has no idea, and i wouldnt ever tell her.. She would then want me to tend to them again.. SOme people...? That is my secret... PS..dont tell her!!! LOL!!! Comments (16)I started going to NYC completely alone in 2007. I loved/love it. I had to really take my brave pills as I had never one anything quite so daring before. I got off the plane at LaGuardia and took Dial 7 car into the city. I took my stuff up to my DB's apt . and immediately went right back out and walked to the local bicycle shop. I had planned exhaustively all the things I wanted to see and do prior to the initial visit. Within 2 hrs of getting off the plane I had a bicycle and was riding in Central Park ! I stayed 2 weeks !! Lots of trips later to NYC and I am an old hand now at going anywhere and everywhere alone. Never ever would you have been able to tell me that I would like doing this or be good at it. It feels like a second home to me and I know where everything is and how to get anywhere I want to go and how to get tickets and shop for food etc. I have rented a cabin alone in North Alabama and biked and run alone for 3 days up there. I have traveled to Arkansas and MS alone to do ultramarathons. Now I go on my bike trips. While not alone all the time I am on my own all the time. Two months at a time. Last year I stayed on for 2 days alone in San Diego. I then took the train alone back to AL. This year I stayed on for one day alone in Bar Harbor and flew home to Atlanta. I have become quite the adventurer. I can't think of others but I know there have been. Go for it !!! I am working on my next one....once you do it you will never look back. Start small and work up. It really is a growing experience and one I am so glad I pursued. c...See MoreHave you ever had a tree taken down?
Comments (22)To answer some of the above concerns - I first dialed 311 (non emergency) and asked about acquiring a permit for tree removal. They connected me with Phila. Parks & Recreation, which has jurisdiction over street trees. The director himself answered (!); his secretary had called in sick. He said that the arborist is responsible for getting the permit. That explained why it wasn't among the permits that are downloadable from the city's website. He also told me to hire a certified arborist; told me there were horror stories about fly-by-nighters cutting a limb off that crashed through a neighbor's roof and then literally packing up and leaving! He did send me a list of qualified arborists, so I'll be using one of them....See MoreAnyone have experience with Uber Lux?
Comments (6)We have used Uber Lux-it used to be called Uber Black. The drivers are professionals and the cars are wonderful, but I am small and they are all SUVs it seems. It is a little difficult for me to climb into them. I would get a limo (not a stretch, just a classic normal limo. I can't imagine climbing up into an SUV in a wedding gown....See MoreBookwoman
