I'm looking for a neutral gray/off-white with an LRV of 70-75 that doesn't read purple (many grays and grieges do!), blue, or pink. I don't want a throwback to "builder's taupe." And after seeing White Duck on the wall in my house, I'd definitely characterize it as tan. In photos online, it looks like a warm off-white with a hint of green. In my house, it's brownish beige. I might have liked it 20 years ago.

Jan Moyer, as I'm scrolling through various threads on cellular shades, I've seen several comments from you, basically making people feel bad for considering cellular shades. The reality is that many folks PREFER cellular shades for a number of reasons. I personally cannot WAIT to ditch the wooden Roman shades over the kitchen window of my new home, as well as the wood blinds in the office space, replacing both with top down bottom up shades. I also don't like heavy drapery, have no use for sheers, and have some windows where shades are simply the best choice. It's great that you come here to help people, but maybe just answering their question without the implied judgement would be better received. As a pro, you should know that.

maxineshell - I went through the same dilemma as you. My painter liked using SW Pure White. I finally gave in and I can say that I am shocked at how white the trim has turned out after reading all the same articles and watching the same videos that you did. I did try a sample of Extra White and it looked blue against my polar white kitchen cabinets, which are more of an off-white. SW Pure White is a brighter, crisper white than my kitchen cabinets, but it only bothers me in one area of the kitchen above the range hood. We are going to get a color match to the cabinets and paint the hood 'trunk'. Here are some examples of my SW Pure White in different rooms, including the kitchen. Hope this helps you! Here is KM Swiss Coffee on these cabs. a bit diff than your wall color from DE, yes? KM Swiss Coffee appears to have a pink undertone rather than a yellow Almost identical to SW White Flour (and BM Swiss Coffee has the pink undertone too) Compare it next to Dunn Edwards which has more yellow to it. Do you see the diff? 2000K lighting is horrible for selecting paint colors. it will cast a orange/yellow hue over everything. You can't pick a trim color w/that lighting. You will over compensate and pick something cooler when all you need is a cooler light. 4000K, as mentioned earlier, is what you need. look at the diff in a 2000 to a 4000. trust me. get this lighting and get a sample door. You haven't mentioned the countertop, have you? what color is it? As for the cabinet painter, he should be able to paint a sample door for you! not a big deal. You need to have one in hand when choosing a countertop. the last thing you want is a white quartz and your cabinets come back a very warm, yellowish white!. I had mine painted and chose Simply White. The painters gave me a sample door to show what the lacquer conversion looks like and ended up going one shade brighter. But my walls and trim are Simply White and they look identical This is all natural light. It's not a cool white. just a neutral, fresh white.
