Closest Sherwin Williams match to Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee
Comments (21)Clients have been known to accuse the painter of using the wrong paint because the color they see on the wall does not match what they expected to see. It is much more likely to be "wrong" because they had not selected from a real paint sample and failed to recognize the effect that other colors in the space and the lighting would have on the appearance of the space. Take away the reference framework and then see how many people can identify the choices. I would love to see a true blind test of asking knowledgeable customers to identify a series of painted samples by providing color names and paint companies. Without any real evidence, I can not be convinced that people can identify results when they do not see the materials being used. I agree that the technology has permitted many uninformed people to masquerade as color experts because their gadgets show them the info. It is a bit like a student who can't pass a math test without a calculator because they don't understand the subject matter but do know the sequence of buttons to press. It takes more than technology to make a true expert....See MoreTrim and Ceiling Paint -SW Pure White trim - What white for ceilings?
Comments (27)We closed on our house today wahoooo! I only got to spend about an hour there but looked quickly at the samples for trim/doors/ceilings. I think I've narrowed it down to three possibilities: BM Simply White, SW Extra White and BM Super White. I thought about BM Chantilly Lace too. Basically, looking at the finishings, my first gut is that BM Simply White looks the best. I just worry it may look too yellow once up on everything. At least that's what I read (and you know how reliable the internet is). First question: has anyone had experience with BM Simply White? Does it just read warm or do you see the yellow in it when it's one trim/doors/ceilings? So I may go that direction, or wonder if I should go with a cleaner white but something close. Something still a little warm... As for the runners up, from what I can see SW Extra White and BM Super White are very similar but Extra White maybe looks a little warmer? Maybe because it has more chroma? Is this understanding accurate, Lori A. Sawaya?? And it seems to me that the order of warmth would go SW Extra White, BM Super White, BM Chantilly Lace... is that a correct reading? Again for context - East/West exposures with a lot of shade. Wall colors aren't chosen but would likely be something along the lines of BM Edgecomb Gray, BM Ballet White, BM Chelsea Gray, BM Natural Cream. Daughter's room will be BM Opal. I'll try to take some pics of the finishings tomorrow but would love any thoughts on this. Thanks!...See MoreSherwin Williams Designer Color Collection
Comments (10)I love sw white sesame but trying to find out if there is a little pink I it. I am looking for a shade this color with a little pink so it blends with my sandy beige floor that has a little pink. Don’t want the pink in the floor to brighten more and clash. If I go with a beige paint without a pink undertone the floor shows more pink....See MoreSherwin-Williams Pure White or Benjamin Moore Simply White
Comments (9)Here's some pictures. @porkchop_mxk3 z5b_MII know the white isn't the msot amazing choice with these tiles but I'm trying to think of something that would brighten up a small kitchen and be appealing to a future buyer. (This is a 2 story house and I will need a 1 story at some point in the future). Also thank you @ktj459 for your thoughts as I indeed worried that the simply white might look yellow even though the warm looked better w/ floor tile. I had thought about getting new floor tile since were renovating the kitchen but it extends into my whole family room, aroudn fireplace, bathroom, laundry area and the thought of how much bother and disruption, that would be just seems a tad overwhelming to think about. I have one friend that absoltuetly hates my tile and told me I need to change it and another that doesn't mind it so much. Also thank you @Patricia Colwell I will keep the lighting suggestion in mind. Too bad they don't do lighting first so you can pick out all the other colors of your kichen afterwards. Thanks all....See MoreRelated Professionals
