I got 99 problems and Snake Plants one

Hello Eveyone!

I am new here and I am not sure how this works, so heres a quick background story.

I own 3 plants

1.Snake plant

2. Heirloom Green Chlorophytum (Spider plant) ?

3. ???

My snake plant had a slight accident over the summer of ‘18 and hasnt been the same since. I left ot out in the sun and it messed up a couple of leaves and I’d like to nirish it back to health.

The second one I think is a Heirloom Green Chlorophytum (Spider plant) it was a house warming gift and I am not sure of the proper way to take care of it. (it has a mind of its own and its grosing all types of ways)

And last but not least I have a mystery plant.I bough it on a flower shop but dodnt realize it didnt have a small info tag.All I know is that it grows flowers in the summer and It likes sunlight. (Almost died when I took it off direct sun) I would like to know the proper walk to take care of it as well

Hope some one can help ☀️

Ps. I would like to grow a plant from an avocado pit any tips?

for this distance ... they dont look all that bad ... but we need closer pix .... for IDing ....

there is a houseplant forum ...

do those pots have drainage ... holes in the bottom???

sometimes.. plants bought at florists.. do not work out in the long run ... but we need to ID it ...

You have ID'd the frst two already. The third is Kalanchoe blossfeldiana. Posting in the House Plants forum - or even just scrolling through a few of the posts - should get you all the care info you need.

You can also Google by botanical name to get care info (snake plant = Sansevieria).

I wouldn't fertilize now either. I agree rooting in spring has its benefits, but since you're trying to save the leaf at this time, you can't hold off till spring.. Like Rjm stated, diving the leaf is one way to root. Actually, I've seen pics of how rooting Sans is done..One leaf is cut into 2-3" pieces, set upright/angle in well-draining soil. The problem is, since your leaf is yellow, which normally happens when Sans are over or underwatered, this leaf may not root..When rooting, heatlhy foliage is recommeded..Neither the oldest nor youngest leaves are advised. I'm not saying your leaf is unhealthy, since it's still firm (no rot, right?) So, it might have a chance of survival with some work. It's also a good experiment. I wouldn't use the entire leaf to root. You've a better chance at success cutting into pieces. If you decide to go this route, there's no need for plastic (humidity) In fact, you want the soil to dry out to a degree, adding plstic will keep soil too wet. The best container is a small, shallow dish/tray. Set cuttings a few inches apart. Place tray in medium light (no direct sun) If you use Superthrive Hormone and Vitamins, add a small amount once a month..If you don't have/use Superthrive, perhaps a light dose of Fish Emulsion will help..a very light dose. tjicken~ I had no clue which one you were talking about and had to go look it up. LOL! (tags have been lost over the years.) Wow! It will be great if it ever blooms. He's had it about 5 yrs now with no blooms. He liked it because of the color and shape of the needles. Thank you for sharing the name. Oh and I found today the comon name is Arizona hedge hog..lol! I'm in Tucson, Arizona. :) puglvr1 and emerald.. Thank you! Yes he is proud and has to take care of his plants on his own when he asks me to buy them! He grows sunflowers and a few others types in the summer, and helps with all garden chores in general. It started when he was 3. What little boy doesn't like dirt! LOL! But I think mom got more excited over finding worms than he did. LOL! And now that he's older, I have to keep them a secret or his dad and him would be heading to the lake. :) Emerald~ thank you! I tried that and the glue just didnt want to give... it ended up taking all the needles with it. It was on pretty thick. The plant is o.k. though. I do have one small fish hook type that blooms each summer. Just showed up in my yard next to my barrel cactus.

What do I do if I have overwatered my snake plant?

Your soil looks fine in that photo.......lots of perlite and can't really overwater it. When you water try not to wet the actual crown/leaves of the plant (just the soil/roots), and water on the morning of a bright day. These are both more applicable in winter. Your biggest problem growing that plant was lack of light. Unfortunately those etiolated/stretched leaves will not heal or turn normal. Assuming the crown is healthy, and growing conditions remain good, it will eventually produce another normal pup or two. Keep it under good growing conditions. You may just want to buy a new plant and grow in the better conditions you are providing now.

Good Morning Everyone!

Heres a closer look at my 3 plants. I am currently located in Montreal,Canada so winter is super harsh but the plants have managed to pull through.

All 3 plants have 3 small holes of drainage.

All your plants look perfectly fine, except for the mechanical damage to the snake plant.

I would consider if your potting soil is of proper quality and texture. Most bagged potting soil mixes are rather inferior products and are the primary contributor to houseplant decline due to excessive water retention. I'd check out some of the soil mixes you can make yourself discussed at length on the Container Gardening forum.....something like the 5-1-1 or gritty mix would be a better choice.

Re growing avocados, I've had excellent results just pushing the pit about halfway down into moistened potting mix, then enclosing the entire pot in a clear plastic bag and giving it bright light. It roots quickly for me this way. I remove the plastic bag once I see the pit sprout growth.
