If you have access to pre-fab granite counter tops, that would be pretty reasonable cost. I did 4 baths all with pre-fab and here is the break down 1) Powder room 25"x22", black granite, pre-fab exact size and holds pre drilled. $120, installation $0. 2) Guest bath 37"x22", I use some kind of cheap cream marble from China, used 1 slab of 8' prefab $130. Cut, drill holes and installation $200. Now, I have a spare slab of almost 5' for my garage work bench! 3) Kids bath, 78"x22". multi color red, used 1 slab of 10' prefab - $250, use the excess for the platform next to the bath tub. Cut, drill holes and polish 1 17" edge and installation $250. 4) Master bath, 82"x22". used some kind of green looking natural quatz, 1 slab of 9'x30" $400, use the excess for a 5' window sill. Cut, drill holes, polish straight edge for window sill and installation $300. I use all vessel sink, so there is no polish needed like for an undermount sink. But the installer told me that each undermount sink - cut hole, polish and installation will be $150. The overall installation cost is pretty good because I bundle the whole deal with my kitchen granite. Although the work was done at 3 different times - kitchen first, then powder room + guest bath and finally kids and master bath, the price was negotiate and agreed ahead of time. Can I extract a sink cabinet from inbetween a 15" trash cab and d/w and replace with the same size sink cab but modified for a farm sink - and do this post original install? Backsplash? Best to hold off on the BS until you do the marble counters. Should be able to remove the sink cab without too much difficulty. Keep future removal in mind when you install the cabs--use screws to fasten the cabs to one another. (The cabs that I just removed were nailed to each other thru the face frames.) Back to installing the Shaw with laminate counters... I think it's do-able. But it's either a DIY project or you need to find someone who will make the countertop using plywood instead of particle board. Full undermount--no reveal preferred. And you'd have to be willing to accept square corners (not radiused) on the sink 'cutout' in order to attach the laminate edging. Either glue laminate on the underside of the counter in the sink area or prime & paint with a high quality exterior oil paint to protect the plywood. I'd also use a black or very dark laminate because of the tell-tale laminate 'line' that will be very visible around the sink. Or be ready to use some paint to blend in the line... The best/ cheapest solution though is to use the already mentioned butcher block. Lumber Liquidators also has BB countertops (maple or cherry) and in 12' lengths. When you replace w/ the marble countertops, you should be able to readily sell the BB or repurpose it somewhere else, like in a basement or garage workshop.

So for all the extremely patient (saintly!) folks who have somehow hung in with my crazy journey to find the perfect master bath vanity...I have finally decided. I'm giving up my lofty, Quixotic dreams of sublime floating sinks atop gorgeous walnut shelves and all the other designer fare and going with IKEA Godmorgon after all. This after another visit to my favorite Swedish emporium, where, hopped up on far too much lingonberry sauce, I walked once again through the bathroom section and suddenly it all spoke to me and made perfect sense. That, and the fact that my favorite salesperson greeted me with a big, warm wave and smile (and this is someone I have peppered with questions for months on end). Ten year warranty. Great customer service (at least in my experience). Ceramic sink, not acrylic (like SO many vanities sold on Houzz). I'm keeping it simple with one 55" Godmorgon in high gloss white + a double Odensvik sink, centered on my 113" wall, with a at least one tall, narrow cabinet on one end for extra storage. This gives us more storage than we'll ever need, plenty of breathing room, the exterior door won't need to be replaced, and I'll have $$ left over to splurge a bit on fixtures and/or better quality tile. And hey! I bought a bathtub today, too! (no, not at IKEA) :-D Thanks for your patience and support!

I love the slabs you are looking at. Beth is great at this and has very good taste and knows her color schemes! I too like the tempest with the stone and cabinet choice but it has what you like best. Just because we all think it looks great does not mean you love it. Maybe you do need to look at more. Look at all of Beth's beautiful pictures. You want to be sure and you should LOVE your choice. I just went through this myself and this house we are building will most likely be my last (scary thought) so I understand where you are coming from. Get the stone that you jump at immediately and love. Maybe Beth and AJCN can fly out and come with you :)
