Just wondering . . .
Comments (7)An add-on to the prior post-- There was more than one person with fibro discussing things on that thread. I don't think I had an 'attitude' but perhaps you could show me what I said. Also keep in mind I do not know you from Adam and have no idea if you are a doctor--besides over the past 30 years I've been to plenty of doctors that have not helped me. Yes, I'm taking it into my own hands-- hoping something will work. Since this is the internet--and there are so many folks out there with ideas that conflict-- how would I have known that someone who is called 'herbdoctor' is giving me professional advice? As I said, I was looking for specific herbs I could consider. I thought a forum called herbalism might have some tips on herbs. I didn't book a dr appointment, and I'm a grandmother not a 'girl' . I'm glad you apologized for the rant-but I think you might want to re-think your approach to seekers of information. Mary...See MoreI may have screwed up my engine - need advice!
Comments (9)viche, The "crankcase" is the accepted term for the reservoir of the engine oil, as it is on your car, too. No need to be apologetic...most of us "engine-heads" are just on here to help when it's remotely possible that we can. As I mentioned in my prior post, your engine will not even notice the bit of slightly different oil...absolutely no need to change your fresh oil again in the Spring. I mentioned grounding the plug to the cylinder while cranking to have you avoid any possible damage to your ignition circuitry. The very high voltage generated by the solid-state ignition module wants somewhere to go to ground....like a lightning strike does. You want it to go to a common grounded piece of your mower, or it will try to find a path of least resistance....and possibly damage a component part of your Toro ignition system. By grounding your plug (hex or thread part) to a cylinder fin, that risk is eliminated (is that clear as mud? ~grin~) You "just dangled" the plug the last time, and got away with it. Next time...you may not. Now relax, throw another log on the fire, and enjoy the Holiday Season. It's a bit less than 13 weeks 'til Spring! Regards, Hal...See MoreI've discovered one thing that can stop my gardening...
Comments (13)Congrats Cedarglen! One of my gardening friends here has been terribly sick through her third pregnancy. She's not done much to the garden (and my back is out for the 2nd week in a row) - but I suspect she will cry out to the neighborhood gardeners in a week or two, asking for a few hours of weeding, and mulching the leaves her hubby will rake up. We have a wonderful group of gardeners, and when their house was going to be renovated everyone went with shovels, trucks and pots and dug up the entire garden, potted it up and took it to a guys house for overwintering. Then they brought it back and planted it for her and it has been so beautiful! Do you have any super kind gardener friends you can call on? We do all kinds of this stuff for each other: volunteer for each others garden projects at the school garden or the community or farmers market gardens, clean up and plant our business district, haul mulch or manure etc. It will be tough when you are full of baby, but my (above) girlfriend did some amazing things with her 2nd pregnancy. We were getting the house constantly flooded with water during a heavy rainy season and she come and helped me DIG TRENCHES to carry water away! I couldn't believe it, she was so fantastic....See MoreSelf-leveling compound & radiant heat: what I learned...
Comments (9)Ditto! I totally want to thank you for making the time to write such a detailed, informative and *helpful* post. Your thoroughness is outstanding and totally puts me to shame. We just lifted up the old vinyl, cleaned the subfloor, laid out the radiant heat mats and then did the SLC atop it. Here and there a piece of the wire popped out of the SLC and i wondered what I was doing wrong. I was told "not to worry, the mastic / tile will cushion it and it'll end up level." Um, okay. But so far so good (we're doing the marble mini hex tiles). Anyway, so we were nowhere near as thorough as you and I'm kinda scared how we'll ultimately pay for that ... This post is a Must Read for all who plan on tiling. Bravo to you for writing it. And Thank You!...See Moretalley_sue_nyc
