Recessed, shallow pantry situation - how would you handle this?
Comments (8)Thanks scrappy25. We can purchase the cabinet doors / skins and have the carpenter make the insides. However, in this option, it is still 1K more than using the sliding doors. Also, DH brought up a point last night after looking at the cabinet images from the KDâ¦since we cannot go to the ceiling with the pantry (due to header on that wall), the top of the pantry cabinet will be shorter than the rest of the cabinets in the space. So, he was also concerned that by using the same cabinet doors, it might look "odd". Maybe we can get the cost down by using a different door style / wood / finish for that area (possibly matching the island)....See MoreNon-counter depth refrigerator. How did you handle yours?
Comments (17)Our fridge went in a spot where one side was flush with a built-in pantry, and the other side was adjacent to the range-wall cabinets (base cabinets only). We were stuck with the depth of the pantry, which left a little bit of the side of the fridge showing. So we pulled out the base cabinets on the other side to match. We initially planned to put a panel there, but the dimensions weren't workable with our stock (IKEA) cabinet components, and we didn't want to spend the $$ on custom. So then I hit on the idea of building a wall to box the fridge in an alcove. It meant losing about 6" of base cabinet, but it fit the modern look of the house, nicely isolated the over-fridge cabinet (the only upper in the kitchen), and looked super-custom. DH and I built and finished the wall. We made it the same thickness as the wall on the other side for the sake of symmetry. Before: After: considered putting in a panel on the other side...See Morecustom refrigerator handle pulls for paneled refrigerator door
Comments (8)I faced the same dilemma about 6 weeks ago. We'd ordered KA's French door fridge and needed THREE door pulls for it! Yikes, I had no idea they were so expensive! Since I already have a bit of arthritis in my fingers, comfort was my Number #1 concern. I found a recommendation for Hardware Hut (www.hardwarehut.com) here on GW and was amazed at the selection. The prices were the best also. When I narrowed my search, I visited several cabinet showrooms to look and feel the pulls they offered. I ended up picking Top Knobs M-848 18" appliance pulls/handles in the pewter. I also have bin pulls on part of my cabs and wanted to stay away from the industrial look. I also steered away from the pulls that were too thin, had ridiculous uncomfortable additions to them or had ends sticking out that might snag on clothes. We've been using our kitchen now for the past two weeks and I am really happy with the appliance pulls we decided on. Regardless of what initially attracts you, my best advice is to try out as many pulls yourself as possible. I was amazed at how uncomfortable many pulls were. The cabinet front fridge doors are a bit heavy anyway . . . go for comfort as well as good looks....See MoreRecessed pantry cabinet handle/pull
Comments (17)Im not sure the push latch would work for us as I see my kids would either mess with it, get the cabinets dirty or have a hard time with it. I love the recessed handle you posted OB2B but they are like $250 a piece! Here is our hardware for rest of kitchen. Our contractor is going to try a different hinge and we might be able to use a regular pull. The projection on these are 1 1/4 We are doing brass lighting so the ones Karen posted from etsy might work....See Moredavidhunternyc
