What can you tell me about Blanco Silgranit Sinks (pics please)?
Comments (152)I commented on this thread a while back when I was trying to decide between the silgranite white or a darker color. I really wanted white because I thought it'd be prettier but I was afraid of the potential staining problems. Well I went for it and got the silgranite super single sink in white from home depot online. Even though the pictures don't show it, I bought the matching grate as well. I think the grate is a good investment as it protects both the sink and your dishes if you happen to drop them. It's been about 7 months now and I'm still so happy with my choice. I haven't had any problems with staining. I am careful with it as I would be with any item that cost me $300+ but I don't feel it's extreme. I always rinse out the sink after I use it and do at least a weekly clean with a liquid soft scrub unless I've done a lot of cooking. I have a bunch of microfiber cloths I got from Amazon that I use to wipe off any water spray on the counters' edge by the sink. I am meticulous about this because I have very hard water. Overall I love this sink. It's functional and beautiful....See MoreDoes your Blanco Silgranit sink show water spots?
Comments (12)carol-my sink is now around 10 years old. No chips or any problems. Just take a minute before retiring for the night to use sponge with water and some Dawn or Bon Ami or Bar Keeper's Friend to wipe down. I also use Johnson's Baby Oil maybe once a month to give it that shine like it had when first installed. I also have the sink guard that I ordered from day 1 which helps to protect the sink IMO. Here are 3 pics that I took today. First shows sink-washing down with well water. 2nd shows after some drops of baby oil or mineral oil to give the sink that shine of newness. Last pic shows sink prep done with sink guard in place. Of course when I look at pics of this sink when first installed around 10 years ago it now looks like it's been used. Even though I have a dishwasher since there is just my husband and myself I find myself washing dishes in this sink on a almost daily basis. I think it still looks great for its age and I'm still happy I got it. Hope this helps with your decision. Comments (7)The Homeperfect site is working today. If you think you didn't get what you paid for and you are concerned about durability, then I'd return it. The number on their website is 1-888-850-3999. (That might be a sales line; they should be able to give you a customer service number. Also there should be a number in the paperwork you got with your order.) If the description on their website didn't specify whether it's the I or II model then that wouldn't necessarily be a reason to return it (in their minds) but you also have the issue with the scuff mark that you could use as a reason. If the description did have a model number that's different than the model number on the box you received, that's certainly a valid reason for a return. I'd also call Blanco's customer service rather than waiting for an email response. Then you can have a live conversation about your concerns....See MoreHow to clean a white blanco silgranit sink?
Comments (16)Thanks to everyone for the great advice! It's been 3 years and this is what we've found for stains For stubborn tea stains and pot scrapes we use a mixture of 1 part bicarbonate of soda and 1 part dishwashing liquid. We mix this into a thin paste. The paste is use to clean the sink with a soft dish cloth. This is an abrasive cleaner which will lift some of the stains. For really stubborn stains, pat the past onto the desired areas and squirt a light coating of vinegar so it fizzes just a little and leave it for 5-10 mins. Wash away and repeat again if needed. To clean the entire sink, if it has no serious stains, fill it to the top with a capful or two of bleach and leave for 30 mins. We tried the dishwashing tablets too, they work well, we just found it a little more expensive for routine maintenance and we had the kind with a plastic coating which just didn't want to dissolve unless you poured a boiling kettle onto it....See More- 5 years ago
