Comments (27)Hi everyone -- I'm so sorry, I let this thread get away from me after asking for a clarification! I really appreciate all the pictures of your granite sinks. I am still strongly leaning toward warmfridge's anthracite cascade sink. I don't really know why I'm so taken with the sink but it seems to be some weird emotional thing... I can just tell that's the sink I will end up buying though I can't really justify it at all; it just seems like what a sink should be to me. It's a darn good thing those who have it seem to like it, though I doubt I'd like it so much if I'd been reading negative reports. Comments (152)I commented on this thread a while back when I was trying to decide between the silgranite white or a darker color. I really wanted white because I thought it'd be prettier but I was afraid of the potential staining problems. Well I went for it and got the silgranite super single sink in white from home depot online. Even though the pictures don't show it, I bought the matching grate as well. I think the grate is a good investment as it protects both the sink and your dishes if you happen to drop them. It's been about 7 months now and I'm still so happy with my choice. I haven't had any problems with staining. I am careful with it as I would be with any item that cost me $300+ but I don't feel it's extreme. I always rinse out the sink after I use it and do at least a weekly clean with a liquid soft scrub unless I've done a lot of cooking. I have a bunch of microfiber cloths I got from Amazon that I use to wipe off any water spray on the counters' edge by the sink. I am meticulous about this because I have very hard water. Chris45ny, all you can do is give me your opinion and I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Westiegirl, glad to hear you have not felt the need to get a sink grid after 4 months. I must say that I am a little suspicious of the HD sink. We hear that often, about items not being the same from super stores - usually faucets & such. Breezygirl, odd how we feel like we know you because we have heard & seen so much from you. I am especially glad you replied because I know you have the same metallic grey color as I do and I knew you didn't start out with a sink grid. I suspect I will hate them too, as I didn't care for them the few times that I washed at other people's sinks with grids & have hated things getting trapped under there & things not able to stand in the sink, etc. Mabeldingeldine, glad to hear you have put that sink through a lot & super hot water to boot. Awesome news! Maybe the problem is in extremely cold areas? I am a little envious of the thought of your garden & even more envious of your chilies! Spicy, my favorite. I have a small outdoor deck where I grow flowers. Nowhere for veggies & such, but I still love tinkering in my little garden. A2gemimi, I haven't forgotten you & I have been lurking late at night. Comments (8)I have the Blanco Silgranite II super single diamond with offset right-hand drain in metallic gray. The sink does not show water marks and cleanser flecks (From hand washing pans occasionally) rinse right off. Also red chile etc that DH leaves hanging around in the sink also rinses right off. As far as slow drain, yes mine does drain more slowly than the previous original Huddee-ring 1970 double sink. What I did to help was remove the GD rubber gasket and just have the optional Blanco deep strainer in place. Others have trimmed the removable rubber gasket and have reported better flow also. I was looking for the thread that talked about trimming the gasket and couldn't find it. I did find this one in which Joseph points out that, if you're replacing a sink and the new is deeper than the old, the waste line might not line up correctly and cause slow draining. My Blanco is definitely deeper than the old one but I'm not at that house right now (trying to sell the old house in a different state) so can't go take a look. I'll see if I have any before and after pics to post later. I know the old GD was a "regular" height and the current one is a Compact one....See Morecrazyhouse6
