Hello, dont paint either, that small island will stand out like a box instead of blending, and the pantry door would be the only thing painted in the room.

You might consider a cream tile backsplash. If the laminate splash is new and you like it, that is fine, but it looks like there might be cream in the countertop and then you could consider a cream (more white than yellow) on the island. Actually, I have similar cabinets and also a small island which I did not paint - have opted to lighten counters and backsplash instead - though I've seen mid and darker counters look good too.

The counters & backsplash are granite transformations - installed a year before we bought the home. I was also thinking a cream color for the island but wasn't sure. Thanks for the ideas!
