I think using natural stone as your bathroomtile would be much better. I got my new bothroom just recently. The other thought is that they could polish the whole floor to a honed finish before they grout it of course. On their dime. But if the tiles are from a different source of stone it probably wont look good. I know, what are people thinking?! I'm always amazed! Pull the tiles. Edited to say: I know nothing of polishing tiles. and I just spouted - to have the tiles polished before grouting - but heck, I don't know. Maybe it would be better after grouting. I think I was considering that if the polishing was done before grouting, you could stop refinishing if it didn't look right, before all the effort went into the grouting process too. Well, Missy........you already know the mantra.....you can do anything you want, and you should do what works best in your own home for your own lifestyle. I leave my toaster and my coffeemaker and my knife block on my very small kitchen counters, even though decorating rules state very clearly that these things should be put away for beauty. I need my coffee, to reach for a knife, (to kill the rats in my kitchen!) and DH only cooks toast, so he needs that toast-cooker out! But there are quite a few paints that clean up quite nicely in lesser sheens than semigloss. I have satin on my bathroom walls and really would rather even have eggshell. Love the flatter finish and would rather cope with the cleaning. I don't think you have to do the semi to get a good wall finish. I even like the Ace Sensations Matte flat finish, it is now in my kitchen and wipes off nicely. Of course, I have a real backsplash so don't have to worry too much, but over by my trash can, there can be some cleanup issues where I think my DD probably throws coffee grounds against the wall! Keep in mind that you have a mess on a flat finish. Even upgrading your finish just a little will relieve that. And you are using mascara. Good for you! I agree with Yaya, you have wonderful taste! I especially like that shower door. And I agree that mixed metals can work. I wouldn't try chrome with brass, but what you have in mind should be fine. I left the matte black doorknobs and hooks on our bathroom doors and put satin nickel everywhere else. Except in the shower, where the three grab bars are polished nickel, as the company didn't make them in satin. It depends on where you install the various items. I do have some doubts about the sink in the picture. It looks like there would be a pretty significant splash factor. When I wash my face there is water outside the sink, and when using the Waterpik, there is water covering the inside of the sink itself, and we have deep oval Kohler sinks. It's a very spiffy, modern sink, but is it practical?
