Comments (3)The easiest way to root figs is to airlayer them. Take a branh near the ground and pin it to the ground with metal pins or a rock. place dirt over the portion of the branch touching the ground. In less than six months you will have a rooted branch. Cut the branch on the tree side and plant it in your yard. I live down the road in Missouri City. Contact me by e-mail if this doesn't seem clear. Yadda out....See Morebest greens in window boxes
Comments (6)pm, in my case, I have pine trees all around the perimeter of my lot which helps. Its the only time of year I appreciate them!!! I thin out crowded seedlings or lower limbs that are encroaching my cultivated space. I let the pines be the filler and I accent with smaller amounts of everything else. Three 6' tall hollies helps too. Initially I was going to keep them natural and not prune them at all. But they really don't look so good that way, so I just take off some wayward branches. With the Leucothoe, seems that a little goes a long way. The pine branches trail a little bit. Sometimes I stick in some dried/dead hydrangea blooms if they dried somewhat decent looking. Or some winter accents from Christmas Tree shop. Or Winterberry branches. Or Red Dogwood branches. I suspect that greens in the garden center will be pricey. I recall seeing them sometimes and being amazed at how much they get for them. Actually, I was at a local farmstand just yesterday and they were selling a bunch of what looked like winterberry branches, but it was actually something else whose name escapes me. I looked at the price and flipped out. I forget how much...$15 $20 or thereabouts. kt, good idea re Wilt Pruf. I watered the containers well and a I even threw on a bit of mulch too. but WP should help, especially if we have any mild stretches....See MoreShare your Green house
Comments (2)We built a carriage style garage last summer and decided that we would totally change our color scheme. The garage is cement board siding. Can't post of full shot of the house as right now it is not completely painted. Ran out of time in the fall. All colors are customized from SW colors--in other words I used their historic colors but then had them tweak them until I got the colors I wanted. Comments (175)Ruth, thank you for a fun green thing month...... RE: saving paper towels. I am always using in the kitchen/around the house...so, I rip them up and throw them in a metal container that I keep on the kitchen counter. The coffee grounds, scrap veggie stuff/whatever go in the container too. I do dump in my compost bins more than once a day. Last night, I was cleaning out my two kitchen junk drawers. Yes, most of the drawer went in to my metal container....lots of paper stuff. Slow Friday night for me LOL!!!! My sister bought a metal container (with lid) for this very purpose on Amazon, to keep by her kitchen sink. It is to small for me. Happy weekend FOTESSERS....Enjoy more March Madness (basketball).
