Seeking experience with tall raised beds and soil conditions

I currently have 20 year old, PT wood beds, 3x8 feet by 10 inches high. I overwinter, under cover, spinach, kale and carrots despite a band of freezing soil less than six inches wide along the bed perimeter. Much of the bed does not freeze. Full unobstructed southern exposure in zone 6b.

For ease of accessibility, I am considering replacing the beds with 24 inch tall beds either 3x8 of 4x8 using corrugated metal roofing panels. Seems intuitive they will dry out and cool down more quickly with the change of seasons compared to a 10 inch tall bed that is closer to the temperature moderating mass of the surrounding soil.

For those with tall beds of any material, what have you experienced or what would you do over?

Thanks
