Comments (4)Look how sweet those are! You aren't just crafty, you're very talented. I couldn't cut a round hole in a piece of wood to save my life. LOL Love the little squirrels on top. Do you have a problem with mosaic on wood outdoors? I've always heard it cracks apart from the expand and contract of the wood through the seasons....See MoreAre you getting dressed up for Halloween?
Comments (30)I don't dress up for Halloween, but we do get over 70 kids come to the door. I always make treat bags as I dislike kids who try to grab handfuls of candy or complain about what I have. I hand them a bag and comment on their costume. I usually decorate the day of Halloween. Both my daughters still like to go to parties and dress up. They are 26 and 28. Honestly though, since my kids are grown and I really don't know the new young families, I can't say I enjoy distributing the candy. I enjoyed knowing the kids who came to the door. My friends and I would call each other with the "sighting" reports of seeing each others kids....See MoreFinally want to redo a DRAB dining room to perk it up !!! HELP
Comments (59)YES! You want to do the top blue...get on that asap. We'll all look around for ridiculously low priced chandeliers so that you have some funny money for extra goodies... As usual, I adore chinoiserie, so I would do that kind of fabric for the seats... Someone posted drapes that I thought were SO fabulous...I'll see if I can find them. ETA: it was these..https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Exclusive-Fabrics-Mecca-Printed-Cotton-Single-Curtain-Panel/8285937/product.html?refccid=FGOEJLVFQFSINKKKWWFWGKXSAE&searchidx=29 However, they may be too full for the window closest to the door. If you have an Ikea near you, they have very nice drapes (I would do white) that you can add a trim to? And they would be well within your budget......See MoreHow to dress up front door/add shelter/small porch?
Comments (13)Hi- I think it would be very nice if you could have a covered porch on one side of your house, or even running the length of the entire front of your house. Who cares if it is not "the period" of your house? I don't think your house is some period masterpiece whose value will be lowered by the addition of the porch. Only you can decide if you have the money to pay for that sort of project, and if the months out of the year that you can sit outside with a cuppa and a book nad/or with a neighbor make it worth it to you to spend the money. Note, I don't even mention re-sale value. Because what is important is the pleasure it will give you, that is number one. (I am assuming that building a porch won't detract from the house's value.) Please be sure to use an experienced contractor, get three bids, etc. You can have one side with a porch swing if you like that, or a couple of rocking chairs and foot stools, and the other side with a table and chairs and a bar cart/tea cart. From the top you can hang several bushy hanging plants. If you do this sort of porch, you don't need a portico as the door will be covered by the porch....See Moreeverdebz
