Window treatments - valances - advice please?
Comments (12)I would use the one with the bands in the dining room, for a softer, curvier effect to compliment the chandelier. Have covered buttons in the main fabric on the bands. For the office/den, I would prefer a cleaner line, much as you have now on the two smaller windows - no curves. If you like pleats, perhaps consider something more like this, with the button on the pleats covered in the complimentary fabric. It is the fifth one down, the green and red floral fabric: [box pleated valance with buttons[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/box-pleated-valance-phbr0lbl-bl~l_2499) Also, if it were me I would make the valances longer, and hang them all much closer to the ceiling. I would not use rods, given the number and placement of the windows....See MoreWindow Treatment Advice, Please!
Comments (8)Understand that if you put rings on the rods, the drape top may be below the top of the window trim. Not good - move the rods up. Don't think they need to hug the crown molding but at least split the difference between the bottom of the crown & top of window trim so the top of the drape is centered. Do the MATH. Not sure what "Georgian Colonial" looks like. Maybe Google "with interior windows" & see what comes up. That's a time & place where shutters were the way to go. Something for you to think about if you'd like a lighter touch. To me, any drapes there just drag the whole "DOWN". The pix you posted are focused on the drape question. Need to know more. Comments (4)As for window treatments, if you're wanting to match them to walls, then they should either be the same color as the walls or the woodwork. Otherwise, pick a color you like. i.e. if you're putting any decorative accents around, then pick a fabric in that color tone....See Morewindow treatment advice/opinion please
Comments (7)Very pretty room--I love the French vibe. Yes, there are designers and companies who sometimes only do window treatments as a specialty. I am sure that you can find a company in your area to do them for you. They may be able to do an "inside mount" if there is room, so that there would be no drilling holes in your wall or ceiling as you mentioned. They will be able to help you with the style, fabric, hardware, etc. Good luck--it will be gorgeous....See Morejyonke2811
