Sounds like cucumber beetles and they are a big baddie. Do a search on the forum, and you will find all sorts of ways to attempt to get rid of them. In the mean time, go smoosh as many as you can!

I was going to say the same thing but waited. If it is something that you have planted in rows, 18" apart, then its got to be some garden veggies not morning glories. So, as Fatamorgana has suggested, it might be sweet potatoes. I have not seen anything other than morning glories with three-lobed leaves. Never planted sweet potatoe. Passiflora Incarnata has similar leaf shape, but I doubt that you planted that one.

Your plant, one of my favorites) is Bush Ivy (Fatshedera lizei). It is important to understand how it grows to use it correctly. Unlike other ivies, it does not have little roots that cling. It must be supported (espalied) on a wall, fence or pergola. As it matures in your zone it will send out branches that could be 12' long and it becomes very heavy so needs a strong support. It can be pruned back and controlled any time of the year. I have grown it on a fence using tiers of grape wire supended through screw eyes and the branches afixed to the wire with single wrap velcro. Also, the entrance to my garden in a former home was a strong arch with Bush Ivy secured to it. In the late winter you will note quite a bit of yellowing and dropping leaves. Normal situation not to worry about. Hopefully you can find a growing situation for this plant. It is a beauty.

I agree with embothrium - to some extent. You could place a small plant in a huge container (like half whisky barrel...). BUT here arejust few reasons why I suggest smaller pot: - potting mix needs to dry and drain very well, and most ppl use regular potting soil or even soil from outside. They do not drain well. - often, as embothrium mentioned, pots are sitting in a saucer that collects excess water. It gets re-absorbed back, keeping roots of succulents wet for extended time. And, wet/constantly damp soil is also breading haven for many undesirables, like fungus gnats and many more . - small plant looks lost in a big container. I know that this is a personal opinion and reason is aesthetics, but many (if not most) will agree... I think. - big containers take too much space. This may not matter to some, but I rather have another plant in appropriate-sized, pot than huge pot taking all that space. One more thing about containers: bowl-like pots look nice, but they are not very practical. As plant grows, it eventually may/will need repotting. Try to get it out from container with recurving top. It is more struggle, sometimes damaging the roots more than they would be and sometimes pot needs to be broken... Most ppl, especially newer plant keepers/collectors/hoarders have many questions with most often asked is about watering. They most often overwater succulents, sometimes keep them too dry for fear of overwatering. Too often, ppl say that they 'water carefully - only a teaspoon full at the time' or some similar amount. Succulents needs water when needed. Experts tell us to water thoroughly, not in drips, and let mix drain well and dry up between watering. That could be few days or longer, most often depending on temperatures.
