Comments (16)Hi, I'll try to answer your question about posting a picture. Open a photobucket account at photobucket.com (it's free) and upload the picture you wish to post to that account. From the photobucket picture, you'll see several boxes either beside or below the picture. One of these will be HTML. Click on HTML with your cursor. A yellow box will appear saying copied. Then go to the message box here and write your comment in the message box. Select where in your message you'd like your photo. Hit paste. A link will appear that will be to your picture, but when you preview, the actual picture should be there instead of the link. If it's not there, try again before submitting the message. If you have trouble, post a message again asking and one of us will be happy to keep helping you. We'd love to see your pictures and would love your input!...See MoreArea rug on wall to wall carpet?
Comments (13)Lisa, the decorator I worked with does the area carpet over carpet a lot, I've seen it in several homes he'd helped with - uses it to add color and ground the seating arrangement. I told him No in my living room, partly because it seemed at the time to be an element in several homes I'm in - so maybe a little predictable. And I do my own housework, I didn't want the second carpet edge to deal with when vacuuming. My third reason was the furniture is floated in that room (all of it), and I would have lost the advantage of lamps plugging discreetly into floor outlets, the cords would have come out from under the second carpet and across it back to the lamp tables....See MoreArea rugs as alternative to new wall to wall carpeting?
Comments (8)I did this with a worn out wall to wall carpet in my bedroom because I knew I was remodeling and would be replacing the old carpet with wood flooring. I cleaned the carpet and then put a very large area rug on it and it was fine. Mine was a large Karastan in the classic Kirman pattern. I just finished my remodel and am using the same rug except over the hardwood floors. It worked for me because it looked as though the rug was intentionally used over the carpet. As others have posted, it would depend on exactly what the layout was but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I have seen area rugs being intentionally put over wall to wall in living rooms as part of the design....See MoreColor of area carpet on top blue wall to wall carpet?
Comments (19)I don't care for area rugs of any kind. I like an uninterrupted vision on a floor. Just my preference. Plus if you have nice floors why cover them up. I did have 2 in my last house (that is were I found out I don't like them) , but they never creeped, slithered, wormed, lollygaged or crawled anywhere. They did fly though, out the front door when I found out I don't like area rugs. Find a nice pattern and enjoy. You might find out you like the W/W carpet in the basement if you live in a cold weather climate. The floor is so much warmer....See MoreRelated Professionals
