Vacuum (under $200) for pet hair w/ area rugs on top of carpet
Comments (2)First of all, if you like what you are using now, try to solve the problem before purchasing a new vacuum cleaner. The Hoover WT will clean thick carpeting very well. There are a few things that could be happening. First, the rug that you put down may have a plastic backing. This would seal the rug. When your vacuum runs over this rug, there is no where for the air to pull through the rug. The Hoover then becomes "stuck" to the rug. The same would happen if you put down a rug on a flat floor without a pad. You said that you put these rugs over your wall to wall, so the WTW would act as padding. Does your Hoover have the same sealing issue when you vacuum the WTW? It most likely does not. Also, since you are smelling rubber, your belt is slipping. When was the last time you changed the belt? Put on a fresh genuine belt, then lower the height of the vacuum just enough to hear a change in air movement and vibration from the brushroll. I can recommend some vacuum cleaners, but I would rather wait until you have tried what I suggested first....See MoreWall-to-Wall Carpet with a Rug on Top?
Comments (4)Is the carpet in just one room? And how long do you expect to live with the carpet? You know that old expression "Don't throw good money after bad?" Guess what I'm saying is to be sure that's not what you're doing here -- trying to match something you don't like and want to get rid of. One possibility -- Our house is under total renovation, so we lived with 'gotta go' carpeting in some rooms for much too long. Until one day we finally just ripped it out. The floor underneath was plywood, and honestly, it was much better looking than that ugly carpet. If we'd taken the time to paint it, it could actually have been quite presentable for a few years. So is a nice rug in colors you do like over painted wooden subfloor an option?...See MoreThoughts on... area rug on top of carpet?
Comments (3)Be sure you get the right pad for under the area rug. My mother had a large oriental she wanted to use over the carpet in her apt - we went through several pads before getting one where the rug didn't "walk" or bunch up. I don't remember what we ended up with (she's been gone now for over 20 years), but I think it had a sticky coating on both sides. Talk to an oriental rug dealer for ideas....See MoreArea rug over wall to wsll carpet in living room.
Comments (10)Yes here is the picture, In the same color. no eating or drinking , mainly conversational. So we r having four of these sofas. 2 on each of the facing walls. The cream 3 seater that I already have will go on the back wall. (we also considered keeping the cream sofas in the same spot as they r right now, and just putting two of these chocolate sofas on the opposite wall , or one chocolate 3 seater opposite cream 3 seater, and one chocolate 2 seater opposite the cream seater. My husband says it would look fine but I think they would look odd. ) no coffee tables , if I get space for end table I would, v small ones. Like those mini round ones, but really they won’t serve any purpose. since i m filling each facing walls with two 3-seaters, I may get space for only two chairs....See MoreRelated Professionals
