What's missing in my living room? Help me put the finishing touch!
Comments (21)Someone said: I believe the Houzz experts (and I am NOT one!) suggest the TV be 2/3 the width of the TV cabinet. No no no no no. The TV cabinet needs to be at least 25% wider than the TV. Wider is always better. There is no minimum size for the TV. Do not hang that guitar between the windows. Do not hang anything between the windows. Your curtains are perfect. Hang the guitar on the wall just left of the TV, get some art for over the sofa, and add just a touch more red to echo the arc lamp (which is tres cool, BTW). You've done a great job so far. Comments (20)Adding a large dressing room is a great idea. The door next to sofa is a moderate sized walk in closet. Next to bed is a 6 ft closet with slider doors. As-is, the layout is very functional for us. It reminds us of the way large suites are laid out in nice hotels; usually in addition to the bed, you have a place to sit, and a place to write. The desk will serve as a writing desk and vanity, since we don't have a sitdown vanity in the bathroom. The sofa is used for afternoon naps, curling up to read a book, or enjoy a movie, so we get plenty of use from that. The other idea we wanted to do in place of the desk, is add a built in dresser from stretching from door to wall, (marble or wood top, white cabinet fronts). That would free up the need for the standalone chest and dresser. In place of dresser would be a vanity with wall mounted mirror, that could double as a writing desk, and in place of the chest of drawers would be a wall mounted full length mirror with an accent stool/pouf for sitting and getting dressed, so essentially it covers all our needs... dressing area, vanity, writing desk, and sofa stays in place. Thanks for the input. in place of dresser in place of chest of drawers an accent stool tucked neatly in front of mirror (not necessarily this one)...See MoreMaster bedroom help with finishing touches
Comments (8)Thank you calidesign and Sabrina Alfin Interiors Sabrina, I am struggling with what patterns to add. I brought some pieces to put above the bed and ended up returning them, either too small or too big. I love your first picture, it gives me idea for the TV too. I wanted to find inspiration for the drapes and coordinated pillows. Thank you again!...See Morefinishing touches in master bedroom
Comments (18)Are you sufficiently adept at sewing to add a band to the drapes to make then longer so you can raise them? I’m not a fan of dried floral floor arrangements. I would also jettison the candle/flowers on the dresser. They look a bit dated to me. I agree with the advice to move the chair out of the room. Whether you move it to another room or totally out of the house is your call. I like the pillows in celerygirl’s post. I think your bedside lamps and their shades are fine. I would put a lamp on the dresser, re-orient the mirror to off-center vertical, and maybe a tray with a pretty box or dish for rings, small family photos in pretty frames, and a small green plant....See Morevoltronic75
