Small tub and open shower in small space?
Comments (7)We just finished our master bath and did almost exactly what you are thinking about. We had a space that was 48" long and 68" wide. We used a Kohler greek tub that is 32" wide and 48" long. You walk into the shower area which is 48" long and 36" wide. The long side of the tub is totally open to the shower and if you were just bathing you'd enter the tub through the shower. The shower feels enormous. Because the space above the tub is wide open you can move your arms around with no hitting into a wall. We left an open window in the short wall at the end of the tub (next to the glass door) which further adds to the feeling of being open- and provides a nice shelf for candles while bathing. I wish I could post pictures- maybe I'll beg my kid to help me!!! I know it is difficult to envision....See MoreSpace saving Tips
Comments (51)Cateyanne....you might want to look at the modular units similar to Targets. They have options for drawers, doors, etc. which can be stacked or set side by side. The ones at target look a bit cheap, but know there are others available from closet stores and places selling storage items. If you are handy, screw them together and into back wall for stability. Adding wood trim to edges meeting stairs would make them look like they were built in. You are right about the lack of search for plans. I did find an interesting site and added it below. Your other option is library or searching books on storage solutions. My space saving tip is vacuums. The last few years I have gone through far too many that cost me far too much money. Figuring the best was worth 200 or more, which just hasn't been the case. They don't seem to be built as well as past remembered, constantly changing belts and hoses getting clogged. My son suggested that I quit dumping money into them and gave me his tiny upright which is a hepa, bagless and cost him 40 dollars. This thing won't go away and just keeps working like new at 2 years old. It picks up even better than the larger like units, much easier to use weight wise. For the price I could buy a new one every year and not feel bad about it. Space saving....takes up half the room and store it in my coat closet. And a hint....I like bagless because I don't have to buy bags. But they sure plug up the filters and got tired of tring to keep them clean. Decided to try my shopvac in garage to vacuum out the filter and hoses, they are like new doing this. Comments (12)Hi Fiona44! I think previous posters have done a great job of showing the differences between "built-in" and "fully integrated". We just installed a fully integrated Miele - and it truly disappears - but it was a big splurge for us. I just wanted to also mention that it's really important that the cabinet around the fridge be built to the exact specifications of the refrigerator model - otherwise it may not look right. If you decide to go this route, you'll want to talk with the cabinetmaker and GC to make sure they know how to make it all fit perfectly. Sometimes the printed specifications from the manufacturers don't provide enough information. (you'd think that they would, but apparently not always.) Our cabinetmaker had to come back and install an extra trim piece above the fridge because there was a space above the fridge when the door was open - it wasn't shown in the drawings. It all looks perfect now, but I'm glad the cabinet guy figured out what to do to make it right. Good Luck with your kitchen! You'll thank yourself for taking the time to understand your choices before you start....See MoreAnyone use CleanSpace (encapsulated crawl space) on their home?
Comments (1)I cant really answer your question but i had an estimate to have the cleanspace installed and they wanted nearly $8000 dollars and my house is not even woth 60 thousand so i passed. Why did they paint? And i did not know that the liner had an odor. The man told me that if i had the liner installed that and mold growth in the crawlspace would stop. i have a very small amount of mold down there. Sorry to hear that you are have issues with the smell. Did you ask the installer about it?...See Moreladybug A 9a Houston area
