science herb project, please help me!
Comments (5)Just so you know, an herb botanically speaking is a plant whose stem does not produce woody, persistent tissue and generally dies back at the end of each growing season. But common usage is a plant used for dying, culinary, or medicinal purposes. If you go by the first definition, any plant lacking a permanent woody stem (like a tree) could be used for your project. If you go by common usage, thyme, sage, lavender, and rosemary are all commonly available herbs and either have low water needs and/or can tolerate lack of water for longer periods of time. One of your key things over Christmas break is that the plants will need a windowsill or good lighting (like grow lights) otherwise the water won't make much difference. Most herb plants have high light requirements otherwise they will die. I hope this helps! FataMorgana...See MorePlease help me finish my bedroom
Comments (25)Hello, I am katsmah's daughter. Thank you for all your compliments and ideas on the room. Almost everything you have recommended, I have tried, but she can be rather stuborn. First, I would like to say, I never leaned toward Tiffany Blue. I think it's too bright, and she doesn't like it anyway. I think the blue-ish grey that you see everywhere now would be beautiful in here. As far as prints, I think a Damask would be nice, it's mature and elegant to go with her beautiful furniture, but she doesn't like Damask, or really any prints for that matter. She wants to do stripes, which I think wouldn't go with the lines of the furniture. As far as moving the furniture around, I did a whole layout on a free website, but she said that outside wall is too cold, and she sleeps here, so it's her say in the end. As far as the headboard, I had first traced out the front arch of the dresser to get the proper length, it's the same width as a queen bed, and then I lined up the ends of the mirror to flow seemlessly into the arch and cut that out, but I don't think I can make a wood frame around it....Update! I just found out she want's Damask now, not stripes anymore. Thank you, now I can actually get this thing started. She is starting to trust me now that you have all confirmed what I have been saying. Thank you all....See Moreim doing a project and i need to now the names of them please help me
Comments (4)#2 looks like a Verbena. I saw one like that recently at a nursery, next to V. lilacina 'De La Mina', but I cannot recall if it was a darker-flowering cultivar of V. lilacina or something different. #6 Looks like one of the variegated Alstroemerias, A. 'Fabiana'...See MorePlease, HELP ME choose finish for cabinet pulls and knobs...
Comments (9)Hi everyone- thanks for the advices. I'm sorry I didn't call me back earlier to this thread but we had a very busy weekend with my 7y old breaking her leg! She is fine now, but is proving to be a little tyrant:) I don't have brass anywhere else in the house, although I'm considering getting a brass/blow glass pendant for my dining room, which opens into the kitchen. I read some material online about how to mix hardware finishes successfully and the designer said something along the lines of keeping the mixture restricted to different eye levels. I think If I had bought a faucet in stainless steel finish AND if the brass in my pendant were more golden, I could have the hardware I like best. However, at the lower eye level I have already mixed two different finishes: stainless for the appliances and polished nickel for the faucets. i definitely do NOT want stainless for the cabinets hardware. I'm considering polished nickel (or brushed) for it. What do you think? do you think it would be too clinical and cold? The backsplash is a warm white as is the paint (feather dove by BM). The floor is wood which also brings some warmth... And finally, I will add two open wood shelves either in walnut stain or the same stain of the floor (provincial). The hardware for the shelves will be dark, similar to the pendant's. do you think nickel hardware would work in this context?...See Morethreers
