Kohler Choreograph?
Comments (313)@tartanmeup Thats in line with what I'm being told. I've lost steam on the non-tile options too. The Onyx installer I had scheduled, who recommended it to begin with, totally screwed me over. At the 11th hour he told me he didnt want to do my project. I then proceeded to gather quotes from 4 different venders and vender/installers, all of them booked until next February or March. One even admitted ceramic tile is now probably more economical, which was not the case before all of the Onyx price increases. I am a ceramic artist/potter and am creating my own tile for a border to be installed at eye level, with solid surface material above and below. Some of the Onyx vender/installers will not install customer supplied tile so that narrowed the field of installers for me. I am also having difficulty finding an independent skilled installer in my area since mine bailed on me. I keep encountering roadblocks at every turn. I am going to consider this Choreograph product (now called Luxstone?) and also Swanstone, solely for the ease of maintenance aspect. And hope the price comes in at a much more reasonable cost than Onyx. Thanks to all who have shared info and photos! Comments (3)We have a 36x42 inch fiber fab shower stall. The shower head is on the side and there's a two inch built in shelf across the back wall. It also has a built in curtain rod that is handy-er than I thought it would be. I think it was in the $650 range and we're very pleased with it. Combined with a delta shower head/ slide bar combo it's perfect for my family from the three year old to my 6'+, 300#+ husband. The best part is that cleaning is a snap and there's zero maintenance. heres a link to our stall. It was installed in a gut renovation January 2015: http://www.fiberfab.com/fiberfab-products/16.htm...See MoreSolid surface suggestions for 57" wide bathroom..
Comments (14)Thanks everyone. I asked a new question, "[Which solid surfaces are refinish able? Sandable polishable[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/which-solid-surfaces-are-refinish-able-sandable-polishable-dsvw-vd~4260627)" because Iv read the onyx collection has a sealer which I assume would need to be reapplied if you polished out a stain. Joseph Corlett replied, "You want to get an acrylic or polyester sheet with an aluminum tryhydrate filler, Corian, Avonite, Staron, LG Hauseys HI-MACS available at lowes, Livingstone, Wilsonart" Im not sure why he didn't include Swanstone. I imagine the above manufacturers are quite expensive. But so is replacing another shower when it starts to look crumby. Mixing a shower pan with different walls is a possibility and if I did that, I would lean towards a cast iron receptor like kohler makes maybe. Swanstone refinishing I'm not sure why swanstone and cultured marble aren't considered SS. But Iv read cultured marble also has a sealer or clear coat like the onyx collection, which would make refinishing difficult. Ahh decisions decisions....See MoreBig Box Store quality?
Comments (10)Box stores commission products made exclusively for them, to a price point. Not a quality point. “Fountain Spring” model 100012345-SS won’t be made to the same standards as “Fountain Splash model 100212345-SS. They won’t carry the same model number, or UPC, which is what some posters are trying to say. SKU is an individual identifier to the retailer. UPC codes are individual product identifiers. Or, the box will do the trick of combing accessories like a soap dispenser as a “set” and use a completely different model number and UPC than the individual, shoppable parts. Those items are made to lesser standards. If the UPC and model number are the same, it’s the same. Period. But even lesser quality plumbing from upstanding manufacturers can last for years. It becomes a case of, how much quality do you need when even a budget $200 faucet from Lowes that has nylon parts instead of brass will last 30 years, and come with a lifetime warranty. That you may never use, because you’ll be sick of the style long before you have issues with it. Choreograph is just expensive FRP that acquired a marketing team. The same not pretty thing they use on shop restroom walls and some manufactured homes. You can find much cheaper options anywhere....See Morelkihlk hiffmpequt
